No, "probably" means a million different things could happen that could prevent us from having a total of 7 20 goal scorers.
You're ignoring the fact that he's done it just as frequently as Hartnell. This is a pretty dumb argument to begin with, considering we should be grateful to have even 5 or 6 guys hit 20 every year. - mochoson
It's a dumb argument because you tried to twist things into your favour, while losing site of the point.
For me it would be nice to have a capable player to play with Giroux, so Giroux will be able to raise his game to another level. There is nothing wrong with wanting our top talent to have another top talent to play with.In basic terms, Stamkos and St Louis were linematea. Stamkos got hurt. St Louis was still capable and able to carry the team.
does anyone else remember the 5 goal game Martin St Louis had last season? |

I read that he didn't trade any picks since 2010. - flyer_nutter
You're right my bad, I should have been clearer and posted #1 picks. He has traded some picks to add players such as Streit, Bryzgalov, and MacDonald. Which I'm okay with. |

I disagree. Giroux is our Top player and you know what yes we do count on him to score a lot just like every team does with their best players. Pens Count on Crosby and Malkin since they cant play Defence. LA relies on Kopitar, Anaheim on Getz and Perry, San Jose on Thornton, Washington relies on Ovi ect. Giroux is a top player because he CAN be relied on to put up points. That is why he makes the big money. If any of the players I mention struggle so do their respective teams, how often do these players struggle? Not very often.
Fact is even without Giroux, You still Simmonds, Voracek Schenn, Coots, Read, Umberger and Vinny who can score goals and got around 20 last season. Who knows maybe guys like Raffl and Akeson will step up their game and add another 20 as well. Bit of a stretch for Akeson since it would be his 1st full NHL season IF hemakes the team but I saw enough of Raffl to know he is capable of it. - xShoot4WarAmpsx

1) This team is too heavily dependent on Giroux's production to win. Our hopes of making the playoffs are all placed on Claude Giroux. All eggs, one basket.
2) You don't care if Giroux puts up 100 plus points? I think you're a lair. Giroux's point production this season is a huge reason why we made the playoffs. He turned on the afterburners and away he went.
3) Martin St Louis is also a top point producer in the NHL. Maybe even top five the couple of years. Who on this team can do what St Louis did for the Lightning when Stamkos went down?
You're just making my case for me. - SuperSchennBros
1) I'm confused how were so heavily dependent on Giroux, yet we had SEVEN TWENTY GOAL SCORERS. Did Giroux set-up every one of their goals with primary assists? Nope. Are everyone of Giroux's assists primary assists? Nope. Did he have the most goals on the team? Nope.
2) No, I don't care if Giroux get's 100 points. I care if the team makes the playoffs. I'm confused how you're correlating Giroux scoring 15-20 more points has to do with better success and being LESS dependent on Giroux. That would literally be the complete opposite of becoming less dependent on Giroux.
3) So St. Louis carried the lighting himself? Had nothing to do with the emergence of Palat, Johnson, Hedman? Voracek couldn't help? Read? Simmonds? Schenn? Any combination of these players?
I'm literally convinced you can't read. |

The really funny things is when the media claim the Flyers will have to retain 50% of Vinny's cap hit... which they can't actually do because $2.5m of the $14.5m he is owed are signing bonuses. They can at most retain 50% of the $12m remaining in salary, which is $1.5m a year or 33.3% of his cap hit.
And if the Flyers really are determined to use LTIR Option 1, the most they can retain is only 20% because Vinny's spot on the roster will have to be taken by someone like VdV ($575K) or PEB ($600K). |

I lost sight of no point. You're entire argument makes absolutely zero sense, and that's without taking into account the needs of this team clearly have absolutely NOTHING to do with finding Giroux help. Voracek is more then capable of playing with Giroux.
If anything, we need more guys who can play at Voracek's pace. Half the time it looks like most of our forwards can't keep up with him. Doesn't mean they have to be expensive wingers for the top line.
If you think St. Louis is the reason why the Lighting survived without Stamkos, you don't watch hockey. Period. |

Signing bonuses aren't exempt from retaining salary in a trade to my knowledge.

I'm fine with retaining Vinny's salary if all were taking back is picks. I'm certainly not also taking back a bad contract AND giving up a pick. That's ludacris. |

Would they REALLY let Peter Mueller wear #88 if he came to play for Philly?
That would be just weird. |

Yeah, you're right. So they most they can retain is $14.5 million divided by 4 years multiplied by 50%.
$1.8125 million, or 40% of the cap hit. |

I'm seriously cool with that.
Give us a 3rd/4th Rounder, Ottawa. We'll send back a 5th and Lecavalier, but tell Colin Greening to (frank) off.
EDIT: (frank) THE SENATORS JUST SIGNED DAVID LEGWAND |

Because according to you, St. Louis scoring 5 goals in 1 game means he saved their season. That's just idiocy.
And for the record, it was 4 goals.
So yet again,
-You clearly don't watch hockey since "you watched St. Louis do it", or
-You still cant math - mochoson
My apologies it was 4 goals against the Sharks.
No, St Louis being a top point producer in the league the last number of years is an example of why I say St Louis carried this team in Stamkos' absence.
How can I not watch hockey if I knew about the game and talking hockey with you right now? You're reaching bud. |

I'm sorry I implied you were stupid, I have a hard time communicating with you sometimes.
The question is if you HAD to have one of Mueller, Setoguchi or Heatly playing top LW next year for the Flyers, which would you choose and why? |
