Only men are to wear kippahs in the Jewish faith. This is a clear example of the type of chauvinism that certain barbaric cultures allow, and must be banned during citizenship ceremonies.
This has nothing to do with Jews, though... nobody else is allowed to wear a kippah during a citizenship ceremony, either... so it's totally not biggoted.

I don't understand why they can't just keep this poop in one thread. It's like they set out to destroy all that is good in life. They know suicide is an option right? - PhillySportsGuy

a futile attempt to get dipps to see another side to the argument? - Feeling Glucky?
I understand but, and I hate to drag myself into this argument, IMO they aren't the same thing. Maybe at the heart of the issue there is some underlying xenophobic sentiment. This issue is the face covering. Apparently there is a pseudo-ceremony prospective citizens may take to remove head garb in a respectful way. I'm not sure why this is still an argument.

Because they've always been required to identify themselves in private pre-ceremony. So covering their face doesn't really influence anything... and making as big a deal about it as the government did can only be seen as xenophobic. Especially since the law pretty clearly covers the right to wear what they were wearing.
When at a sporting event, and National Anthem are played, people remove their hats as a sign of respect for Anthems. I do, do you?
Is it too much to ask someone seeking to join Canada, to show their face, at a Citizenship Ceremony, as a sign of respect for their new Country?
You Left wing progressives can spin this into anything you want, but the intended purpose of this rule is to show respect to Canada and Canadians.
In no way does this target any specific group of people, and the accusations those who there is, are baseless. read the rule below, and then tell us how you see something else
Sections 13.2 and 6.5 of CIC’s policy manual, CP 15: Guide to Citizenship Ceremonies (as amended to 21 December 2011) (the “policy”), require all candidates to “remove their face covering during the taking of the oath” (Ishaq, para 3). If they do not, they will not receive their Canadian citizenship on that day, and must re-attend a different ceremony, before being granted full citizenship. If they again fail to comply, “their application for citizenship will be ended” (Ishaq, para 5).
September 23, 2015 NDP Leader Tom Mulcair has weighed in on the controversial issue of face coverings at citizenship ceremonies, saying Wednesday he backs a requirement that women show their faces.
“Under the current rules, a woman who wears a niqab who’s seeking to become a Canadian citizen has to take off her face covering and identify herself,” Mulcair said while in Montreal.
“Those are the current rules and I fully agree with that.”
Canadians right across the political spectrum are opposed to immigrants being allowed to wear facial coverings during the citizenship ceremony, according to the latest results from Vote Compass, CBC's online voter engagement survey.
Asked whether immigrants should be allowed to cover their faces for religious reasons while taking the oath of citizenship, 72 per cent of Canadians say no. Only 19 per cent say they are OK with the idea. http://www.cbc.ca/news/po...ssues-canadians-1.3237138
I've traveled a lot in my life and have shown respect for local cultures and customs when visiting places of worship, by removing foot wear, head covering etc.
Perhaps some of you left wing progressives do not think preserving Canadian customs, heritage and culture is worth it, but most do when it comes to this issue.
I remember back in 2002 when Yann Martel (Life of Pi) described Canada as "the greatest hotel on earth, where you can check in with all your baggage", and then once Canadian Citizenship is acquired, anyone can return to their native country a become Canadian at their convenience.
Also political scientist Stephen Gallagher, when he said that mass immigration has resulted in “a country with little underlying coherence in the sense of sustaining a primary national identity aside from being a desirable place to settle.”
Until recently, an immigrant who returned to their native country could start a family, and their children would automatically become Canadian Citizens, and then once they were old enough their children also would become Canadian citizens, even thought their parents of themselves had never set foot in Canada............but as what happened in Lebanon in 2006 when about 30,000 Lebanese/Canadians registered with the Canadian embassy in Beirut, to be evacuated from a War zone, at Canadian taxpayer expense........while the vast majority of those Lebanese/Canadians had not lived or paid taxes in Canada for decades, we paid for their evacuation and return after the conflict was over.
We used to hand out Citizenship as if it meant nothing, and some of these rules regarding granting your children, and grandchildren born back in Countries of origin, automatic Canadian Citizenship without ever having lived in Canada or even paid any taxes to Canada for decades, have now been changed to help restore the integrity of Canadian Citizenship.

Nobody is disagreeing with what Mulcair's talking about, but nice try tying to take that out of context.
The bolded is all just completely irrelevant to the issue.
And the whole point of this debate is that that part of the manual is straight up against the charter of rights and freedoms.
And the only people who are likely to wear face coverings are Muslims. So yes, they're the ones that are being targeted, quite obviously. Again, think about a ban on "comically small hats". It doesn't straight up target any group in the wording, but in practice, it does.
The United Nations 2030 Agenda endorsed by President Obama, Pope Francis and the U.N. General Assembly brings the world one giant step closer to true global governance.
The U.N. document approved Sunday in New York, “Transforming Our World: The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development,” includes in its preamble the call for a “new universal agenda” for all of humanity.
Why some people are afraid of a united world. - Feeling Glucky?
A "United World" is not achievable, until we rid the world of all faith based ideologies that are designed to keep us apart. That will not happen in our lifetimes, or our Grand children's lifetimes.
I don't waste time dreaming of owning a Ferrari, as it is not within my price range, so why waste time dreaming of a "Star Trekkian" world that is also not within reach.
Progressive activists gone giddy with power in post-election Canada have joined the United States, other parts of the world and the Catholic Church under a universal ‘Hope and Change’ enforced society.
Having been corralled into the same Big Government barnyard, society has a problem whose solution has yet to be found. But the agents of change have an even bigger one:
It’s going to take more, much more, than a one-size-fits-all ‘Hope and Change’ slogan for citizens to willingly trade freedom, liberty, individualism and patriotism for that Marxist ideal called One World Government. http://canadafreepress.com/article/76299
The UN is not asking permission, but issuing a command that the entire planet will commit to 17 sustainable development goals and 169 sustainable development targets designed to radically transform our world by 2030. The UN 2030 plan promoted by the Pope will advance Agenda 21 on steroids. Through a controlled media the mass populations will be told that this is all about saving the environment and “ending poverty.” But that is not the true agenda of Agenda 21. The true agenda of Agenda 21 is to establish a global government, global economic system, and global religion. When UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon spoke of “a dream of a world of peace and dignity for all” this is no different than when the Communists promised the people a “workers paradise.”
Wait a minute......... the Left Wing Progressive Main Stream Media and their Political Allies have told us that bombing alone would not do the Job, and there would need to be "boots on the ground"...... Why has the Left Wing Progressive Main Stream Media and their Political Allies NOT told us what is happening???
