The guy has played what like 7 nhl games? I get that he looked good in the WJ and in college but dubbing him a top pairing defencemen this early is nuts.

I'd rank Ruhwedel ahead of Austin as well, more pro hockey experience and he demonstrated that he can hold his own.

Is this a massive overpayment to anyone else here ?

I don't trust anyone in Detroit's system. They are all undersized skill Europeans. I fear out of the system they may not live up to the hype. Nyquist may.. may be the exception but I'd want either one of their top 4 D with the trade or one of their more seasoned top 6 wingers included in the trade because the guys mentioned in the trade are all young Europeans and unproven.

Half the league is saying the Sabres are trading Myers or looking to trade Myers, everyone except the Sabres. Funny isn't it. Murray will listen to any offers but never said he is moving Myers.

1) I would throw up in my mouth if we got Subban. You know how some of you feel about Marchand? That's how I feel about PK. HATE HIM.

2) If that Isles pick turns out to be top-5 or, God forbid, a lottery winner, Murray might as well pack his bags, because he would be run out of town.

3) Imo, the last thing we need to overpay for is a defenseman. And if you're including the Isles first, then it's an overpayment. If we're talking top-line, younger forward (Couture is one that comes to mind), then you consider it.

Yeah I still don't want to trade him personally.. I really would like to see how he does playing with Georges this season... I think this could be a great pairing for him.. If they thought Tallinder would be good for him imagine what the defensive sound gritty leader Georges would do for Myers game.. So I hope Murray just sits on this unless as I've said in the past he gets blown out the door and down the side walk with a deal for him.

I'd take PK on this team in a heartbeat, guy is a gamer and brings it every night. I would pay him the cash over a guy like Letang.

Agreed, Gorges is the "steady" player that should play with him.

Myers/Gorges would be one of the leagues best 2nd pairings IMO, not bad for a rebuilding teams top pair for now

I get your point but I think this is all very subjective.. For instance I hated beyond belief Brandon Spikes when he played for the Pats injuring our players talking smack about the city. But when he came here and started doing those things (well not the injuring other teams players.. yet.) for us, then I started to really like him being on the team. With the exception of maybe Chara and Lucic I'd welcome pretty much every guy I hate in the league who is good on this team.

When I paired McCabe with Ristolainen, its not so much that I expect him to be a dominant #1 defenseman, but more that I think their styles of play will mesh well together

Also they are both better defensively than Myers and Zadorov, so I'd see them as the top pair when it comes to shutting other teams down

Zadorov & Myers would be our topPP guys and offensive threats

Think of it like Dupuis playing on Crosby's line

Agreed.. I don't think Murray will trade him but his name keeps coming up and coming up in trade talks from various legit media outlets... Got to wonder if that gets to Myers head a bit.. We all know he doesn't react well to pressure or negativity. Hoping this is just background sound for the offseason trying to get teams to bite.
