Unbelievable how “He’s a point per game centre, elite offensive player in the NHL, and people who talk about him being bad defensively exaggerate, and that’s worth a fortune in a trade” has changed to “he’s a liability and the team is better with him gone”.

its not that shocking..its how fans always move on from players that have left...especially when it is a player of Spezza's skills...i never wanted to move him, i loved the guy, be he had his flaws and while i dont hate the return for him, i still feel like he was worth more, regardless he will be missed..im happy for him though...hes gonna light it up in dallas

Now, you know that has been my point of view for a couple of years. Others think the same. The return was okay, not a home run. They would have done much better had they traded him a year ago or at the trade deadline.

What irony. After years of your saying that Spezza was deficient as a player you now want to pretentious he was an elite player who was esstial to Ottawa winning.

Brutal news.

http://senators.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=725529

OTTAWA - The Ottawa Senators announced today that General Manager and President of Hockey Operations Bryan Murray has been recently diagnosed with cancer. The Senators organization issued the following statement:
“Mr. Murray is undergoing further testing and will begin treatment immediately for this condition as prescribed by the team’s doctors in collaboration with specialists.

Mr. Murray’s treatment schedule may require him to be away from the Senators office periodically. During his periodic absence, assistant general managers Pierre Dorion and Randy Lee will be responsible for managing the Ottawa Senators hockey operations department.

On behalf of the entire Senators family, the team is asking that the thoughts, prayers and support of the entire hockey community are with Bryan and his family.

The Senators and Mr. Murray ask that you please respect his family’s privacy during this time.

There will be no further comment from the Senators organization.”

You got it above.

I want to add to my comments of "well done Brian" from last week. How about, well done Brian during what must have been a difficult week for you and your family.
