Panaccio was right. Anything less than Pronger-like ability will be a failure for the small minded - PhillySportsGuy
FTFY
In my mind any draftee who keeps a consistent NHL spot is a win. Sure we want them to be that top player we are missing but anyone who has the drive, determination, skill, and discipline to stay in the NHL is a win. |

is your name actually George Bailey and youve never seen Its A Wonderful Life? - stayinthefnnet
It is my favorite movie and can practically recite the whole script.
It is just there is a whole lot of other material to use:
That old George... he's always making a speech.
or
What is this, George? Another run on the bank?
or
I wouldn't have a roof over my head if it wasn't for you, George.
or
A toast... to my big brother, George. The richest man in town!
It also looks as though the Wild may need a center and would have the cap room for VL.

My concern is that the "core" offense and "core" defensive peaks seem to be out of phase. Can they find a top notch 1 or 2 defensemen, before Timonen retires or Grossman's knee's finally wear out? Do they have to wait until the young crop of prospects develop, if they can't sign or trade for a #1 defenseman? If they have to wait, will the young offensive core still be at the top of their game? Personally, I think they should have gotten their defense in order before the offensive, since everything I've read said Defensive (and goalies) prospects take longer to develop.
And, is Mason the "guy"... Everything looks good so far. - leon neon
Its definately a challenge to fix the D....By that I mean to find what they need....a true # 1 or even a great # 2.....But thats were the patience comes in. I think they had their D in Line...then pronger went down....Meszaros fell apart (was their D man of the year one year) and Kimo got old....after that it beens alot of swings at trying to get a hit on some of these guys.
The good thing is if we Know it....Hextall lives it everyday. |

And where did you get that inofrmation from? Capgeek?
I'm going to teach you something about Capgeek. All they do is take an educated guess on what the roster might be for the season, and come up with a number. It is not a factual list of the Cap. It is an approximation. And they do not keep the off season cap. And the Flyers list includes Chris Pronger. And you obviously aren't aware of how LTIR works, and the options open to the Flyers. - MJL
Yes capgeek. Do you have a better resource? I know they don't use the off- season cap but that don't matter. The fact is the cap is 69 mill and the flyers have to be under that by the start of the season. I am well aware of how LTIR works but they can't use that option until game 2 of the regular season. So please tell me these options they have. |

I've only gotten looks at Morin in small doses. So outside of the Chris Pronger comparison, what is he expected to become? Brayden Coburn? Luke Schenn? - SuperSchennBros
Think if his potential was a dartboard, Bryan Allen would be the fat outside ring, and Pronger would be the tiny dot in the middle.

You can not place a player on LTIR until the season has started. |

If you state that the Flyers can't use that option until game 2 of the regular season, then you are not aware of how LTIR works. As I stated previously, games have zero to do with anything with the cap. The cap is based on days of the season, not games. Games have zero to do with it.
And the Flyers do not have to be under 69M by the start of the season. A link was provided earlier with the options of LTIR. |

PK Subban is one of the rare players you've gotta consider giving up major assets for. First round picks, Sean Couturier, etc. - SuperSchennBros
If they weren't willing to pony him up for Shea Weber, who SHOULD HAVE won the Norris this year, not sure they'd do it for PK Subban, who isn't as complete of a defenseman as Weber. |

Ok. So they have Jokinen. Still Vinny gives them more offense then Ollie and Fisher. Fisher is more of a third line or 2nd line center. Vinny could play 1st and then slot Ollie and Fisher behind him |

Dunno about that... Olli and Mr Underwood outscored Vinny this past year... I'd suspect that the three will all be in the same 20-goal/40-50 point range next season as well. Olli and MrU can skate and play D, too. |

They've already said they will probably be using Jokinen at wing. They could definitely still use Vinny, but I doubt they go for it. We would be taking back a player like Nystrom or Stalberg, anyway. |

I'm fine with what Hextall is doing. We don't know if it's due to patience, or just the fact he's got no money to spend due to inheriting Holmgren's pile of poop.
If Hextall can find a taker for VL without eating money, and can improve the 4th line he will have had a solid first off-season to build upon. |

The circumstances have changed. Sean Couturier is no longer a prospect, he's a full-blown Player. Now it might not be unfair to compare Sean Couturier and Scott Laughton but now that Scott Laughton is here, he fills a backup plan. Again, Laughton may never be Couturier but by projection they are suppose to play a similar role. we did not have this luxury when we were going hard after Shea Weber before. |

To be fair, I think Olli played more games that Vinny this past season.
He's a cheaper risk for Nashville than taking on Vinny, however.
Fisher is just a solid player to have around, period.
