What you're hoping for is that Vinny can use some of the negative feedback about his work last year as motivation. Not only don't the Flyers want him but no one else does either.
I'm not saying that Vinny is able to channel the negativity into positive results on the ice, but it would be a whole lot cooler if it did. - johndewar
i'm sure there's interest in the vinny from around the league, but not at his cap hit. amazing what a single "down year" can do to a guy's stock. he reportedly turned down bigger dollars to sign with the flyers.
I kind of just want them to keep Lecavalier at this point. So that he can bounce back and people can shut up about the Flyers and contracts. - eayost
I'm fine with keeping Lecavalier. And I certainly don't want the Flyers taking back a contract they don't want, or eating money for the next 4 years. If a reasonable deal can't be worked out. Hopefully he's healthy and strong, and if he is. I see no reason why he can't be a productive and solid 2nd line center for the Flyers. And if that happens, they'll certainly have better options in the future.

rather have vinny at his pay than many of the dudes that are left at any price
isn't it possible that hextall has zero interest in subban - for whatever reason - and therefore has nothing to look into? - hammarby31
Anything is possible. But with the Flyers biggest need being a top defenseman, I think it's logical that he would have interest in the player, and would make a phone call to see what the cost is, if the player became available.
Subban is a dynamic, young, top defenseman who has won the Norris Trophy. Why would the Flyers not have interest in the player?

I am interested to see how he bounces back, in particular after this years training camp. Berube basically admitted that last years camp was a joke and nobody was in real skating shape....my guess is he beats them into submission in camp and I am hoping given Vinny's age that it could help him find his legs a little bit more. That and he could stand to skate at about 10 pounds less thsi season.

Craig Button gave Flyers draft an "A"...compared Sanheim to Ryan McDonagh - Jsaquella
Damn right... here's a link to the entire article... outside of Sanheim, Button has a lot of great things to say about Aube-Kubel, Lindblom and Friedman, too:

Id rather keep him for one more year too. Can he really play any worse next year? I sure as hell hope not. Not really sure what to do with B Schenn. Like everyone else I hope they commit him to a position/role with the team

I don't think there is any doubt that Lecavalier is going to use all of this as motivation.

Your not a believer in Baby Schenn? - Just5
oh i believe in schenn but vinny still brings a tremendous amount to this team
if he's traded so be it... i'll be happy with either decision that's made there's positives and negatives to each route

I think at this point, if they don't want to eat cap dollars they're better off waiting until the inevitable injury bug takes out a top line center on a contending team.
But isn't the guy a failed Calgary GM or something - Just5
There have been a lot of those in Calgary.

Before that, he was the director of the scouting group that basically drafted the Stars to the Stanley Cup in '98 with a lot of solid non-lottery picks.

But he won the Norris because of his offensive abilities. I never get why everyone is so high on this guy. He constantly get's out of position, he's always going deep in on the rush and can't get back leaving a forward to play defense most of the time, he's a showboat, and he's a cocky jerk. IMO, his offense does not make up for his lack of actual defense.
I know I'm at odds with not only Mtl fans, but Philly fans who would love to have him. Mtl fans try to use the claims "you don't watch him all season long"... well.. I watch a good portion.. I don't just watch Flyers games, I watch many other games around the league, including Mtl. Personally, I never want to see him in orange and black... ever. Call me crazy, call me "uninformed"... it's just my opinion from watching him. I think Randy feakin Jones had better positioning than Subban, and that's saying something.
The Norris is no longer the best DEFENSEman... it's the guy on D who scores the most points throughout the year. I'd say the same thing about a guy like Karlsson. Are they talented? Heck yeah... and Subban is one of the best skaters in the league, IMO. But I still wouldn't take him as an "elite" dman, especially at the numbers they're talking (8+/year)... Give me Weber, Suter, Keith, Doughty, Pietrangelo, McDonagh, Seabrook, Kronwall, etc. all before Subban. Not only do they play team hockey, but they actually play good positional defense.
Again.. JMO... I know I'll get ripped for it, but it is what it is...
