Dan Murphy apparently was suggesting that Gulutzan had very little say on the staff last year, even the PP.

Also said Canucks kept him because the younger players liked him.

I think it was a good move keeping him, I believe he was responsible for Kass. Or at least I want to believe.

Yeah and that makes them a joke. FA doesn't want a winner he wants a money maker.
- A_SteamingLombardi

There was this article in the Sun that FA hinted to getting involved in hockey operations last season and now has taken a stand-off approach.

But I still see a hockey philosophy that suggests owner influence.

Sorry man, I do not agree.

I think there are very little positions open because this team wants to earn money so therefore it needs to stay competitive. The canucks aren't in development mode. They are in money mode.

Who is to say vey Bonino won't out perform Burr Hansen Higgins?

Do you mean Vrbata? Bonino is pretty much Kesler's replacement in the lineup.

I think you're right, I was hoping he would have learned his lesson but as long as the Sedins are here we will never see a true rebuild.

The only thing I look forward to is Linden not allowing it, but if he just quits (which is what I think he would do) if he got pressure to do something, then we're screwed.

Benning - "Markstrom never asked for a trade."

Told you guys Botchford is full of poop. He just keeps throwing it against the wall and hoping it sticks.

My biggest concern (and what also is keeping us from being competitive IMO) is that we currently have no line that is the heir apparent to the Sedin top line. If we had that in the organization or something close to it the outlook for the next years would look substantially different. As it stands there are still a lot of questions without answers on what happens when the Sedins can no longer face top pairing D. Some people here feel we're already there.

Regarding the competition, I mentioned this earlier but as much as management love to say all spots are up for grabs if there are too many vets on 1-way contracts they'll still keep them up and send the young guys on 2-ways down, even if the young guys out-perform the vets in camp. It happens all the time but Benning is a new GM so I'm hoping for a different result here.

Some would suggest that a team can replace top players over time while staying competitve. Possibly, but it's really difficult.
The cornerstone of this team is the twins and Burke got them by having the #2 pick and trading to get #3 (I believe). But it's hard to trade for a top 3 now a days. You get a top 3 pick (possibly a franchise player) by having a terrible record. Not picking 15 - 23.

I think Vrbata will play with the twins .

Vey is the only RH center we have so he is pretty much a shoe in. Bonino has been slotted in to 2 nd line centre.. Therefore I slot Kassian 2 nd line RH. So LH 2 nd line is up for grabs with Jensen Higgins or Burrows.

Dude you're a season ticket holder. We need your insider letters to the fans from the Canucks organization to keep things amusing in here.
- AlexF

I used to get one of those. When Linden sent out his Q&A email this year I asked him for a scouting job as my question .

agree with this, really depending on how they play. Will be hard for Jensen but hopefully he can. Please keep Higgy away from it WD.

Every chick wants to be a porn star (figuratively) now. I was born way too early. When I was in high school every girl hid their figure under rugby shirts and baggy jeans.

Edit: or maybe girls are just more considerate now...

- bloatedmosquito

Back in grade 8 I was hanging with older drop outs etc. The chicks at school who wouldnt even let me have a free hand were later tripping over each other when they seen these 18 year old girls waiting for me all the time.... slutty punk chicks in fishnets sucking face with me out front. Soon I was spotted at pool time with a couple of tattoos(not homemade crap either)... big deal for 13 year olds in 83....

All those same uptight girls were easy picking for me by grade 9. I dropped out... couldnt even relate to people my own age by that point. Most of the girls I was banging down town were old enough to drink.

I think Higgins should be moved anyways , just to give a kid a chance to crack the lineup.

Burrows needs to make 2 nd line LH or he is overpaid and needs to be moved IMO

to both, but still hoping Burrows is able to get is act together.

I don't really see Bonino up with the twins, but who knows, we are all just spit balling the lineup and I am hoping to be pleasantly surprised with another move or two...

My guess to start the season(now what I want, but what I think and assuming all healthy)

Sedin - Sedin - Vrbata
Burrows - Bonino - Kassian
Higgins - Vey - Hansen
Matthias - Richardson - Dorsett

Looks like the go-to. I am sure there will be some juggling around as well til everyone gets nice and comfy. IMO losing one of burrows higgins hansen would be nice for some youth but can't see it happening yet. Hoping for some lights out camps from the young studs.

Higgins has to go to make room for Jensen... But you have what we have to work with... Will Matthias or Richardson replace Hansen on the third line?

But all in all, it doesn't look like a bad lineup, just hoping someone unexpected brings some sizzle.

You pretty much called me a racist for thinking basketball wouldn't succeed the 2nd time around in the lower mainland and then called Carol out for essentially regurgitating the postings of others. That was within just a few posts.

The people that post here are decent people and don't need a crusader standing up for the causes of injustice as you seem to feel you are doing. From what I have seen you've consistently busted everyone's chops for being inconsiderate, bigots, unknowledgeable, or basically whatever other itch you feel like scratching at the time.

I respect the fact that you are looking to "extend the olive branch" if that is in fact your intention, but personally I think you've already gone too far in the minds of most on here.

Keep posting if you feel like it but be prepared to deal with the consequences of the actions you've already made.

It takes two to tango... I'm willing to move on. It's your choice to dwell on things past.
