I think Kaptaan could use a toke or two, he may not take himself so seriously, then.

Hell of an idea.

Rather keep both. Boston probably doesn't do a deal without Tanev. Again, I think it's just best to keep him if you look at our prospect pool.

In what world should we be trading youth to acquire a top 6 player? It makes far more sense to hope one develops into one.

Reilly Smith is a young player himself, but I don't think it makes sense to trade Tanev + for him.

Reilly Smith is a pretty sweet talent to acquire. He's already shown the top 6 skill and production so there's no hoping in his development. He's not on the block but if he was I'd seriously consider trading for him.

Play the odds, if all of our forward prospects bust then this team is legitimately cursed and likely the worst developmental team in the league.

Jebus no. Tanev will be a star defence man soon. We are going to have to pay him real money quicker than we like. His contract is up at the end of this season we will either have to pay or trade. Will he be worth it? Consensus says we pay. We could have a poll on it. Carol??

I don't want to ship out any youth at this point.

I think the odds are more likely that 1/4 will pan out as NHL regulars. But as of now we're projecting a 100% conversion rate. If Benning is any good at developing a new culture from the AHL affiliate to the NHL team then those odds should increase.

He had a very good season no doubt, he also played with 2 excellent hockey players. I don't see him as the type of guy you give up a young top 4 dman + for.

It's a subjective call. We need scoring something desperate a lot more than we need D. If Corrado makes good on his early promise then we may have the opportunity to make that move. The true gauge is what is in that +. Is it a 3rd rounder or Jensen?

My comment wasn't about moving Tanev but more generally that I'd be ok moving youth for youth if it fits our needs.

Agreed - acquiring more youth via getting rid of older players should be the priority in the next few years.

My opinion is that we have very few D prospects with an aging top 4. I'd rather just wait and let the young forwards develop as well.

With absolutely nothing to back it up I do suspect we will score quite a bit more this year.

BTW how do our prospects look? Is Hutton or that Swede near Ready?

For once we agree.

I'm higher on Smith than you though.

I don't think you're going on a limb there. Simply switching out coaches (WD for Torts) would have boosted our scoring without any changes to personnel IMO.

I still think a lot depends on the roster and the Sedins.I don't think it is a given yet that we move up from 24 th. Have to wait and see.

Tom Sestito 77 GP

Zac Dalpe 55 GP

Darren Archibald 16 GP

Jeremy Welsh 19 GP

Kellan Lain 9 GP

I mean that with another couple of duds is a complete line I expect 0 points out of on a nightly basis.

Wow, you're really scarred by the Tortorella experience.

An entire roster of players just don't nose-dive in production all at once without a reason. I don't know WD apart from his resume, but his style definitely seems more uptempo which is something we had not too long ago. I doubt the transition period to acclimatize would be all that long and we'll get better production from most of the roster. How much better remains to be seen.
