Reilly Smith is a young player himself, but I don't think it makes sense to trade Tanev + for him.
- Nucker101

Depends what the + is. I'd take Smith over Tanev.

BTW how do our prospects look? Is Hutton or that Swede near Ready?
- VANTEL

Andersson? I wouldn't count on him being anything more than a career call-up type.

Apart from the obvious candidates for call-up (Jensen, Shink, etc) is there anyone else that could be in for a look on any line that we haven't seen before?

Random thought:

Chris Tanev taking that one year "prove it" deal may actually be a great move for him. He's spending another summer training with Gary Roberts and Doug Lidster as assistant coach might be able to further develop his offensive totals. Hopefully Lidster can help Edler as well.

Gaunce will be in the AHL, could get called up later in the year. Corrado is an obvious one. There wasn't a whole much outside of that. Hutton is an intriguing dman prospect in college.

I don't watch the games, just read from people who watch the Comets regularly at HF and on Twitter.

maybe add another 5-10 would be a nice addition for him. Edler, if he can back to the 40pt or so guy would do wonders for this team.

I think Gaunce and Shinkaruk play a full year in the AHL and fight to make the team next season, and even then maybe start one more season in Utica. Hopefully the team is sellers at the TDL no matter the standings, replacing "utility" players with youth to finish the year.

I know, the thought of it is absurd. But If Willie can get these guys to play a nice north south game like av did. I think theres a chance we make the seven or 8 spot. No were not contenders. But If we are safely into the playoffs by the trade deadline do you really wanna give up proven third liners in order to throw the young kids in the the playoff fire? Just seems illogical to me.

absolutly, that's when a "contending team" would pay the most for a guy like Higgins or Hansen. And I think at that point in the season you would have a guy on the farm that could fill in those 3rd line minutes admirably. Just don't trade them to the team you might meet in the playoffs.

So you're saying the only thing holding the Canucks back from winning a title, or being considered a powerhouse is one more NTC? Get er done!

Not that I'm disagreeing with you because they have clearly had a lot of recent success, but part of the reason they have so few NTC is that their big guns went straight into huge $ long term deals straight from their ELC's, when they aren't eligible to receive a NTC. Richards does have a NTC (signed in Philly) which kicked in after the 11/12 season (his 7th) and Carter, Gaborik and Brown might as well have NTC's based on the length and salary.

Grenier might get a look, he had a pretty good season lat year in Utica. 17 g 22 A, he also has good size at 6'5 200lbs.

fox might get a call as well, he is a guy I am really interested to see in the AHL.

Cal orielly was resigned and has played a bit in the NHL.
