I was working off the 60+ point total to put him in the top 3.
50 points would be excellent, no doubt about it. And still difficult to get.
Doughty only had 37 points last season. It will be very interesting to see what Ehrhoff gets. I just find it unlikely, after the excellent season Niskanen had last year, that Ehrhoff comes in and blows that away point-wise. - wolfhounds
Oh, without a doubt that 60+ number will be difficult... and I wont say he'll exceed that.. but I truly could see him getting at least 50... but then again, he could tank and finish the season with 25pts and a -19. |

the latter.
im far from a cardiologist, and im sure you cant take it all at face value, but by all means it seems to be taken care of. but even if you entirely write that off, its hard to discount the fact that overall he has just been a very fragile player.
it would definitely be best for the team if they were both there and firing on all cylinders. ehrhoff in a secondary role and letang being the player he can be would put the team in the best possible spot. but its just hard for me to bank on either a full healthy year from letang and/or paul martin not being moved.
ehrhoff is going to be gunning for points with his one year deal. and i think he is going to get all the opportunities he can handle to prove it.
and for what its worth, should timonen not have been resigned, i think streit would have been in line to push 50 as well. - stayinthefnnet
Timonen is almost definitely the 2nd pp quarterback now, with Streit moving up to the first. They'll both get 30+ points, and hopefully AMac as well...beyond that, who can say? |

again, like you said, things are going to be different this year.
but the pens usually leave their first unit out there for a large percentage of the time.
taking away one of either martin or letang (history shows you will not get many games with both of them for whatever reasons, even if martin is retained), i just dont see many options for the pens to fall back on. id love for despres to get that role. maybe the new coach gives him some trust that they wouldnt before. maybe maatta or pouliot can lay claim to it, but they will be coming off of surgery. i just see it adding up to a hell of a lot of PP time for him. |

Is it friggin' October yet so we can get the season started and see what happens?
Lots of changes throughout the league, I'm curious to see how things pan out. And I'm really curious to see how things work in Buffalo with all the changes they made, plus they get 3 1st round picks next June...yikes if they do it right. |

My favourite part by the way, as they are getting started Josh Rimer's phone rings, he answers it and says really loudly, "Dad, I'm doing a podcast!"
Ek is the only presentable one. Bill looks like he just rolled out of bed and Josh Rimer and Mike Augello are your stereo typical older dude bloggers.
They have info though but nothing earth shattering. They discussed the Preds/Flyers/Vinny situation. Ek's pushing it but the other three don't particularly see it. Derek Roy is in the mix there. They spent a bit of time on the MacDonald deal. Bill had to defend it. The other guys bashed not just the deal but the player and the trade. Nothing really all that new before they moved on to Dallas. |

I'm optimistic about AMac (not that there's much choice) so long as he's getting reasonable minutes, right around 20 per, on our 2nd D pairing. Berube gets to build his D system for the entire training camp this season, and I'm hoping for good things. |

Ugh. Having to wear a suit for work is absurd, but having to wear a suit in the middle of summer is downright dumb.
Although I do have to admit, wearing that tie wrapped tight around your neck does increase your performance by at least 73%. |

As am I.
I think MacDonald does well with a training camp (everyone else as well) under his belt. |

I think he's a good player, and I think you describe how he should be used. But if the Flyers are forced to elevate his minutes and his role, he's going to struggle at times. And likely will become a scapegoat for the fans. |

I think that's a serious possibility if our blueline doesn't change. If 44's play drops off or he gets hurt, gotta think AMac is a prime candidate to get the bump. |

well. niskanen is now gone. letang is typically due to miss 35 percent of any given season.
he also has a hell of a shot, and good distribution skills.
if they rework their powerplay to where it isnt ridiculously counter intuitive, i think he should be in line to rack up the points.
if you get 80 games out of him, id realistically slot him in the mid 50s. - stayinthefnnet
Well, with Neal gone, they'll probably play Crosby on the right side...so that he can actually shoot the puck. That would help the PP immensely. |

I think with Timonen's current contract, the changing of the guard has occurred. But how it plays out on the ice - and injuries - is what matters. |
