That is a trend, not a fact that points to the future. But if that's the case, I guess LA will never win a Cup either. |

He's been in Dallas for one season -- that's not a track record of sustained success. He's had one good season for them. Let's see him do it again when people expect him to do it and he's gotten comfortable. - AllInForFlyers
So in other words there is no information that points to Seguin not continuing to play well, or that there have been off ice issues in Dallas, or that there will be in the future.

You do realize that the inverse was true when Boston traded him and Dallas acquired him, right?
That there was no information available that Seguin would not have off-the-ice issues? Which was the reason Boston traded him in the first place?
He's been there for ONE SEASON. You don't know that he's going to be an angel any more than I know he's going to revert.
What I said was that Boston didn't miss him. And they didn't. They didn't miss the guy AT ALL. And some mythical "poll" that Boston fans would take about how their season ended doesn't change the fact that that they were every bit as good without Tyler Seguin as they would've been with him.
We've argued it enough, and nobody else cares. But it's comical how a team could win the President's Trophy without a guy is now, all of a sudden, this poor, pathetic, directionless franchise because they lost a Game 7 in the second round...simply to fit whatever narrative you're pushing today.

I'm quite aware of the reported issues when Seguin was in Boston. But there have been no issues since then that I'm aware of in Dallas. Hockey players are no different then normal everyday people. Young people mature. And there is no information currently to suggest that Seguin for one, will not continue to play well, or will have off ice or maturity issues.
Every post you made in reply has been one strawman argument after another. From claiming that I blamed Ericksson and Reilly, to bringing the Flyers into it, to now claiming that I said anything even remotely close to Boston being a poor, pathetic, directionless franchise. None of that was said. All that was said was that in my opinion, Boston erred with trading Seguin. It's that simple. One trade. And the only narrative that you think I'm pushing, is being invented.
And if we want to talk about a narrative. Boston came up short in thier goal last season. And I guarantee that they view the season as a disapointment. So how can you say they didn't miss him? Maybe if they keep Seguin, things are different. Who knows? But you state they didn't miss him as if it's a fact. |

You overstate. What it clearly means is that you miss the guy who is no longer on your roster who isn't helping you do the consistent winning during a season, simply because he's playing well somewhere else.

Nobody has stated that the Bruins need to be blown up, or are a poorly run franchise, or anything like that. That's being invented. The discussion was simply about the Seguin trade. And then a bunch of deflection off the topic was posted. |

There's no straw man -- on what basis is it that the Bruins erred by trading Seguin, then?
Regular season failure? Postseason failure? Failure to account for the future/giving up on the player too soon?
I didn't have to invent anything -- there's only so many reasons why it could be an error to have traded Seguin, and none of them hold any water when the team performed as well as Boston did without the guy!
You can't hide behind "they gave up their future" when you don't know which Tyler Seguin is going to show up this season, not take into account what Reilly Smith and Matt Fraser could or will do, and Loui Eriksson could rebound to his statistical norms after a tough season -- because of all the players in the deal, Eriksson does have a track record.
Hell, you want to talk about straw men, you were the one who threw out the "they might have to trade Eriksson."
You inserted the part about Boston having to search for a winger because of Iginla's overages -- not me. So why bring that up, then? |

not below Meh, but not that far above it either.
I wonder if its complete, because i have to think theyre at least pondering potential movements with sutter/paul martin for respective reasons.
but i like the erhoff deal. i think he bolts after this year, but still for this season its a good value at least. i dont think they lost anything FA wise that will be a killer. niskanen going should be replaced by hoff. the neal for hornqvist deal i still have mixed feelings about.
the bottom 6 should be better with the cheapy deals given out, but the top 6 is still placing a hell of a lot of hope on a wish and a prayer. but realistically, what can be done? everyone could use another top 6 winger. |
