When is Nolan going to coerce Murry to bring Kristers Gudļevskis to this team. Now that is a goalie I want on my roster, partially because he's Latvian. |

You do know its a revenue related formula...It took a 12 year 5.2 Billion dollar TV deal for the cap to go up 9 million, on top of a 12% increase in general revenue. Where is the extra revenue going to come from to get the cap up to $90 Million?? - Stripes77
The only problem is that I don't think the TV deal was factored into this year's cap, as it does not kick in until next season. |

I don't want to start a fight but for those who think the sabres will be better I was wondering why you guys think that?
Personally i think we will be the same or worse due to the fact that we do not have a goalie or the fact that we have very few actual goal scorers on this team. I'm interested to hear what you guys say to support why we will be better |

I don't want to start a fight or an argument here but, for those who think they will TANK are going to be sadly mistaken. |

Heh, I'm curious what his value would be considering his performance in the Olympics. It's really hard to say with someone like him who hasn't been in the NHL for long yet. But Bishop is gonna be their #1 for a while so I'm sure something can be done about it. |

The players will not deliberately tank. But this team is built for last place regardless of how hard they try to win.

I don't think they will tank, but I don't think they will be good. They might be better, but not THAT much better. Who they picked out pretty much replaces who they lost through trades and free agency. I don't expect them to make the playoffs. |

Our organization is stable, we have a coach that players want to play for, and we have veteran leadership. That alone will IMO push us out of 30th. I think personally if I were to bet, I'd say we will finish 28-29th place |

I think they could finish anywhere between 26th and 30th, with the gap between those two being no more than 6 points. The deceptive part that makes the "tank" look so easily attainable is the fact that the Sabres were historically bad, not just relative to its own franchise's history, but for the entire league's as well. The Sabres had an intentionally sub-par roster and dysfunction not seen in a long, long time. I don't think any team will achieve that sort of negative dynamic, at least not to that degree for a long time. |

Guess we'll have to see what team they actually ice. Will our "prized" dmen be here or in Rochester? Will Samson be sent back to Juniors? Goaltending? |

A) It would be really hard to be worse than last season, a historically bad year.
B) Imo, having Moulson for a full year adds probably 15 goals (I think he had 11 for us last year and I'm penciling him in for at least 25), and Gionta is probably good for 15.
C) Hodgson, Girgensons, Ennis, guys like that will be better than last year, imo.
D) Gorges and Meszaros are a huge upgrade defensively over Soft-linder and McStain.
E) Stewart and Stafford are both in contract years, and that has to account for something.
F) Nolan for a full year. No more Rolston.
G) Two or three goalies ready, willing and bent on proving that they're the man.
H) Reinhart, imo, will stick the whole year, and without even setting foot on the ice yet, is already better than D'Agostini, Scott, Omark, Konopka, Leino, etc. |

Who's this Jet we acquired today?
SABRES ACQUIRE FORWARD SAMUELS-THOMAS FROM WINNIPEG
BUFFALO, N.Y. (July 9, 2014) --- The Buffalo Sabres today announced that the team has acquired left wing Jordan Samuels-Thomas from the Winnipeg Jets in exchange for a conditional seventh-round pick in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.
Samuels-Thomas (6’3”, 195 lbs., 5/28/90) appeared in 34 games in his second season at Quinnipiac University during the 2013-14 season, compiling 29 points (13+16) and 46 penalty minutes. In four seasons with Quinnipiac and Bowling Green State University, he has totaled 104 points (50+54) and 162 penalty minutes in 138 NCAA games.
Anyone know anything about him? |
