He has also won a lot of those award because he has been on a very good and balanced team. Do you think Chicago going forward will have a balanced team if $21.6 in cap space is going to two guys? - stevens87
Yes..but maybe with one less highly paid veteran winger on the books.... |

It means I think Toews is worth being one of, if not the, highest paid players in the league. Personally there isn't one player I'd want the Hawks to trade for him. Including the regular season dynamo, Cry Baby Sid. - paulr
Crosby has sucked badly the last three playoff series, even so in 95 career playoff games he has 114 points as opposed to 81 points in 94 playoff games for Toews. |

Technically Toews has more to show for.
Not just a regular season guy but has proven to be one of the best leaders in the NHL and that's why he has 2 cups and Crosby does not.
Crosby was AWFUL these last playoffs not to mention the other couple of EDIT playoffs too |

So you are saying if Toews played for Nashville or Florida with the same leadership, he would have won two cups?

Perfect! You have the cry baby on your team and we have Toews on the Hawks, we're both happy so you can run along now and troll another team |

I guess my point is...if Q won't change, then Q is the problem. So blaming Kompon, or whomever the assistant coach is, seems misplaced.
I'll stick with pointing the finger at the guys on the ice for most PP failures.
I do agree that guys in front of the net with consistency would be a good thing...
...and fix the zone entries which are maddeningly awful at times. - ArlingtonRob
This all looks accurate to me. And (not directed at you, Rob) about Q not changing....there's evidence that he is very willing to change and try new things (he does change his lines and lineups once in a great while), and there's also evidence of stubbornness about him (sticking with vets, not changing the PP scheme). To me, this indicates he's human. |

There's this coach of the Red Wings and Team Canada. He goes by the name of Mike Babcock. When asked who the best player is on Team Canada, he responded by saying "whoever is playing with Toews." Nuff said, imo. But you enjoy your regular season points.... See ya'. |

That's fine then maybe rockford can get a better coach. The coach in rockford is going to be very important over the next few years developing our next wave. Huge now with the toews and Kane signings |

I'm not so sure. I did see him in a coffee shop and he kept asking the waitress if she was Sarah Connor.

So you are saying if Toews played for Nashville or Florida with the same leadership, he would have won two cups? - stevens87
So your saying Crosby would have scored all those points with Nashville or Florida Right?
Since your TRYING to make the observation that Crosby must be better than Toews due to points?
Well one simple fact is that the Pens coach would do whatever he had to to get Sid away from the opposing teams best players. While Toews coach puts him out there to shut down the opposing teams best players. Big difference between putting up points and shutting down the best players on the opposing team.
Do you honestly think that if Toews had Sid's role that he wouldn't excel in it?
Toews can put up points. But it is his defense, and leadership that makes him the special player that he is.
Try arguing Kane versus Sid. That is a closer comparison then Toews versus Sid.
I will say that Sid is arguably the best player in the league. After Toews! |

If I had to choose, I would keep Toews for sure.
As mentioned before maybe they should trade Kane to a bottom 3 team next year at a chance to get McDavid. That would be a win win for both teams IMO but a big gamble. - RobitailleFAN20
Kane has a full NMC that set in on July 1st, so he'd be hard to move to a bottom 3 team unless he really wanted to go there, like say Buffalo. Also, it's just silly to gamble on something like that when you already have a franchise cornerstone elite player.
Not you of course because you're an LA fan, but sometimes fans come off pretty entitled when discussing Toews and Kane's possible contracts. These are guys who play a fairly dangerous sport for a finite span of time that is much shorter than a "normal" career, so I'm not going to judge them for making as much money as they can while they can. These are two players who have helped revive hockey culture in Chicago and brought two cups to the city in recent history. Would I love for the team to win every year and for them to sign cheap cheap cheap deals for my own benefits as a fan? Of course! But I'm going to refrain from calling them things like selfish because they want to compensated for doing their job exceptionally well and that might impact the possibility of a cup win for maybe a couple of years. |
