I'm happy they'll both be back for the long term, but $21M in cap hit between them? Stan will REALLY be hitting the dumpsters after next season. |

I dont care if they were in line with projections or guesses
so much for the "Kane and Toews need to take less to stay competitive"
This is hardly a deal or hometown discount for the blackhawks |

James Mirtle @mirtle 30s
Extensions kick in starting in 2015-16, when cap should be $75-million. $10.5-million on that cap is like $7-million on a $50-million cap. |

Not that the team can't afford it, but I imagine the signing bonuses are going to be huge as well. Sabres signed Moulson to a 25M contract, 11 of which was bonus.
Toews + Kane at that % would be in the neighborhood of $70 million upfront. |

David Alter @DavidAlter590 2m
After Toews and Kane signings, the Blackhawks will have $65.8 committed on their cap to 15 players for 2015-16. Wow. |

Weak comparison by him...when was the league last at a 50 million cap? and how many players were making 7M at that point? |
|
|
|
James Mirtle @mirtle 1m
That year, Brad Richards's contract was 16% of the cap. These Toews/Kane ones will be roughly 14% when they begin. |

The Blackhawks personally helped grow that franchise and their ugly jerseys when someone forgot to cover #68 ....

EVERY good franchise has had a period of rapid growth in the fanbase due to a winning team...the Crosby/Malkin generation of fans would epitomize the term "bandwagoner" and to continue hearing "every Hawk fan just jumped on the bandgwagon" is truly frustrating given that they are an original 6 team and have had success for decades prior to the early 2000s... it just is a way to try and belittle the fanbase and the city as a whole and Im not going to take that crap from a Penguins fan that would gladly drink from Crosbys used jockstrap |

Aaand after you remove Sharp's 5.9 cap hit.....and Oduya's 3.3....that makes it 56mil to 13 players....bring on the Hogs! Danault....Teravainen....McNeil....or trade for some lower line guys etc...Dahlbeck, Johns, and maybe they trade for another Rozy veteran type at a lower cap hit |

Evander Kane is 22 years old ? And a bad ass power forward. I know he is a turd but so was Kane at 22. Eveander Kane shot the puck on goal 260+ times last year , something the Hawks sorely need even with the addition of Richards is to get the puck to the net and see what happens. EKane puts pressure on opposing D behind their own net. EKane could do very well around the leadership of Toews.
TT is 165 lbs soaking wet.
But again , the $ wouldn't work for the Hawks . |
