That movie is as funny to me now as it was the first time I saw it when I was 16.

A slight clarification: Jack Johnson was actually drafted by Carolina. He was acquired by LA for Tim Gleason, maybe with a pick, because he pissed Jim Rutherford off by not coming out of college when Rutherford thougt he should

Its funny, most of our forwards are signed to discount or at value deals (until we got umbergeler) and our defense is the exact opposite. Imagine if we had just one or two home grown dmen.. But such is the NHL...

I guess you could argue right now, that MacDonald and Streit are over payed. I personally don't think they are. And if they are, it's only a slight overpayment. As far as the rest, about normal for the pedigree of players that they are.

And really, as was the case with Wayne Simmonds, who after having one good season, was given a 6 year deal for close to 4M. Which in the first year may have been an overpayment, is now a really good deal. Especially if he continues to produce like he did last year. But the difference is that Wayne Simmonds is liked as a player. So a 6 year deal for him is okay. But that's another example of an excellent contract negotiated by Holmgren.

i think the simmer deal is one of the best in the league.

but to be fair, if im going to take a risk on a deal. id rather give it to a younger guy in the hope that they are on the upswing, rather than to an againg veteran in the hopes that they maintain.

Considering what Toews and Kane got, it is definitely going to be a steal for a future Hart Trophy Winner. That is right I predict Giroux wins Hart Trophy next season assuming he doesn't frank up his wrist again
