They don't have cap problems!!!! - Jsaquella
What were the Cap problems that stopped them from re-signing Carle? |

If we can't move Vinny I would go with this if I could be gm. I know it shows over cap but once Pronger is LTIR then it is compliant.

Banking on and succeeding at doing so, are vastly different birds.
Let's look back at that summer, shall we? Suter was widely expected to end up with Minnesota. It wasn't like "Suter's ex-girlfriend lives in Minneosta and she's been calling him lately" but a pretty well known situation where Suter and Parise both wanted to play in Minnesota.
As for Weber, he was a RFA. For all the wonderful aspects of that, only TWO RFA hit with an offer sheet have left their original teams. One was Chris Gratton, the other was Dustin Penner. Both were disappointments and neither was a franchise type player.
Just because the Flyers were pursuing those guys, the reality is, they were not very likely to land either.
I mean, I'm pursuing financial independence and being able to spend my days fishing and drinking beer....but it's not likely to happen. - Jsaquella
That has nothing to do with the length of Carle's contract. They decided to pursue 2 different guys at that time. Had they kept Carle, they likely would have locked him up, and had he hit UFA this year, he'd likely be getting $6M for 6 years. |

Did you even read it? Cap issues did not stop the Flyers from re-signing Matt Carle. They obviously couldn't come to an agreement during the season, and the Flyers went ahead and re-upped Grossmann. And one thing about tagging space, you can always creat some when needed. |

They'd have to waive and demote Rinaldo coming out of camp. |

If they can't move VL, I would re-sign Hall, waive Rosehill and go with the following:
Schenn-G-Jake
Raffl-VL-Read
Umberger-Couturier-Simmonds
PEB-Hall-Rinaldo or Akeson
Thoughts? - BiggE
The only change I would make would be switch Read and Umberger. Read/Couturier/Simmonds would be the 2nd line, Raffl/Vinny/Umberger would be the 3rd line. I think Couturier with those wingers and more ice time would start to blossom offensively. Vinny still gets two 2-way wingers, and less responsibility in Berube's system while remaining a centre.

They might also be thinking about playing Raffl as the 4C. |

Granted it was a 30 second interview, but during the draft, Ho sang didn't seem to be a bad kid. |

I really hope this Vinny thing gets taken care of soon. The more I think about it the more I want this team ready to go once camp begins. I think if he is still around he will be a pro but the media will question it every day about the trade rumors and stuff.
