Absolutely. It's hard to take myself away from Buffalo. I have spent a lot of time away, but always love coming home. There is just something about it; the people, the food, the passion. It all means so much and has changed me for the better. The teams seem to be going in the right direction, which is just an added bonus. - thatsapickle
I've been away from the buffalo area for almost 30 years now. Left when I was 16 and we moved to California. I've been a diehard Buffalo Sabres/Bills fan before and since.. nothing has changed. I cannot like any other team more than those two teams. It will always be the Bills and Sabres for me. |

meh, I'm not so sure about that . They might fill their arena now (they were at 100% attendance this year), but they only have a 15,000 seat place. they are 25th over all in total attendance. They lost their franchise for 15 years to Arizona.
On the flip side, Sabres get 18,000 people to come to each game. 11th in attendance on the worst team the Sabres have ever put on the ice. - RynoBull
Winnipeg will sell when the updates to the arena are complete. I think he wants out because its Winnipeg. When they show outside shots of the arena during games it still looks like Christmas outside weeks after the snow has melted here. Its crazy. |

I am still in the process of relocating to Orlando. It's just not Buffalo. People ask me to explain that and it's difficult to put it into words but I think you know what I mean. - Stripes77

I'm 30 almost 31. I remember wide right, Leon Lett, music city miracle, no goal, no goal 2, staff infections, etc.
I grew up at the Aud, I was there for Malarchuck, I was there for the 4 OT game against the Devils, I was there for the last game there. I was lucky enough to get one of the orange seats.
I went to the first game ever at Pilot Field I have the ticket somewhere but I don't remember much of the game. I've seen a no-hitter thrown there. I remember Tom Prince clearing the tall fence in left and putting it on to the 190 ramp.
I remember the Wings, the Blizzards, and the Destroyers. I remember the first championship the Bandits won.
People ask how could I root for Buffalo sports, I tell them it's like rooting for yourself in life. No matter how many heart breaks you have you are still happy for them to be apart of your life.
Buffalo is a sports town. Their sports teams are apart of our lives. Sure things are better when they are winning but if life was easy where would be all the fun be?
There are many people on here who mock "the tradition" and that's fine if that's what they feel but there is one and while it might not be a "winning tradition" there is still a proud tradition.
Buffalo is home, will always be home. Your hometown team is always apart of home, and home is a big part of your life at least IMO. - Stripes77

They would but that arena cannot be expanded . They did not think they would be getting an NHL team back when they built it . According to what I have read . Maybe they have found an engineer that has figured it out.. Too bad . It is a strong market . |

Been in SC for 11 years, I'm the exact same way.
I may pick up some new fandom, but nothing will make me choose a rival over the Buffalo teams. |

Living in Southern California, I cheer for the Ducks. But when the Sabres are in town, it's all Sabres. I was there for the blow out where Getzlaf recorded his first ever hat trick. It was a very sad day, but I represented the Sabres and will continue to do so. |

I challenge them to go through the same amount of heartbreak that Bills/Sabres fans have gone through and still stand by their team. Fans love winners, but there aren't many fanbases that are the same as those in Buffalo. |

Fans of the Chicago Cubs and the Boston Red Sox up until 2004 have just as much right to make that claim. There are plenty of others as well.
We have far from a Monopoly on sports heartbreak. |

Sure, but generally the "winning" teams fans walk away when they start to lose. Look at the Lakers this year. Attendance was dismal. That's more my point. Teams that are expected to win have fans walk away at the first sign of trouble, however Sabres and Bills fans come back hopeful every year. And I will include the Cubs fans because they too have the same childlike wonderment that we do. |

Look, I live amongst Giants and Jets fans.
And this is what I tell them : After losing 4 SBs, and 14 seasons of NO playoffs, and all the other heart breaks that we have gone through with Bills and Sabres, if we wanted to switch team, we would have done it a LONG time ago.
Now, you take away what you want to take away from all of this. |

So, I'm 56, from Buffalo but moved down the highway to Rochester for work...then fell in love with my now wife...so I'm here for a couple more years..but really want to move to the Sarasota area (love the FL Golf Coast). I've seen it all from the Bills and Sabres..and as you all said, it is a part of oneself even with all the heartbreaks. I just hope these franchises get things right before I'm too old to party in Buffalo when one of them wins a championship!
Go Sabres, In TM I trust! |

I was under the impression they had built it for expansion just for that reason and it was a part of the deal to move the team there. I dont read up much on the Jets though cause I could give a crap. |

Nope they are screwed . They did not consider being back in the NHL. NHL was just happy to get that team out of Atlanta.

I'm kinda bummed it didnt happen in the peak of my party years (19-28). I lived in Kenmore on Keller when the sabres were last good. My plan was if they won the cup was to take a shopping cart from Tops, us a large garbage bag as a liner, fill it with ice and 2 thirty packs and just start heading downtown. It would be the adventure of a lifetime. |
