While I doubt the young kids will be looking to him for any leadership, Reinhart has more leadership qualities than Kane does. Some are meant to lead others are meant to follow. I think Kane needs more leadership around him from the head coach down to the players in the locker room.
I think he could find that here but not until next season. Think of what it could reap. A big young talented forward that needs a change ASAP see: Seguin, Tyler - Stripes77
As much as Seguin needed a change in Scenery . He was a good soldier and did not say stupid things in the press . This guy is his own worst enemy . I would rather spend time and effort on the young talent we have than trying to reform this character. As much as he may not be a leader . He still can poison a dressing room . He is a coach killer as well. |

A trade for Kane the Peg is going to want one of Hodgson or Ennis (assuming Ennis signs a longer term deal) a prospect like Armia or Grigorenko and a 1st round pick. I think it would take more than the Blues 1st.
Basically something similar to what we would want for Myers. IMO this is not the year to make a trade like that. - Stripes77
if thats really the price, thats too much. i was thinking something more along the lines of hodgson/ennis, pysyk, and the stl first. winnipeg could make out like bandits, but murray could acquire a player that he sees as a vital cog in his overall plan (if he does). if the market demands more, or if the jets arent really interested in moving him, move on. |

Hodgson, Grigorenko and STL's first for Evander Kane? I'd have to consider that: off ice issues aside.
Hodgson is the odd man out here, especially if Ennis signs a long term deal. Grigorenko can't be labeled as a bust but you have to give to get. You're essentially moving an overloaded piece, and trading a prospect for someone a little further along in his development. I would also assume something else minor would be coming with Kane in order to even the deal out a bit (a 4th or 5th round pick or an okay prospect). |

That's the problem with the change of scenery. I don't think Seguin has that kind of year in Boston. Seguin blossomed because he left the Bruins. That served as a wake up call for him, and he's even admitted as much. I've never been a proponent of hanging onto a guy simply because you're afraid he'll perform better somewhere else. If he's not going to be as good as he can be in your organization, then you move him. Whether or not that's the case with Myers remains to be seen. |

Maybe, and Murray agrees with you and I think said basically that he doesn't worry about what a player does once he's traded.
There is a difference though in that sometimes you need to recognize that patience can end up paying off. Seguin is a legit star player, period. He would be one in Boston just like he is in Dallas. Whether it took until this year or even took an extra year if he stayed, the fact remains the kid is a star.
Boston traded a 21 year old star player (which rarely happens) for a couple decent players and a prospect. His value has probably tripled in 1 season |

Ok so what if instead of Myers going to Wpg for E. Kane, the package started with M. Moulson?
Does Moulson have a NTC? - SuperCat
That makes no sense and won't happen. |

I would be willing to bet Baptiste is going to be the biggest surprise this year. It will be nice to see him in Rochester. Maybe even get a callup by the end of the season if Stewart and/or Stafford get traded. I think he could be a better RW prospect than Armia. Although I still think Armia can be solid after another season in Rochester. |

Perhaps him or Armia can move to LW for a line of Armia-Grigorenko-Baptiste |

I think part of it, though, is that Boston knows its window is closing. Chara isn't getting any younger, and neither are many of the other key pieces in that organization. They're in win now mode. Obviously, it's not a guarantee, but if you can get players that help you win a championship now (don't forget, the Bruins ended up with the best record in the league, despite the trade), then it's worth it.
I've said it before: if you put give me the stipulation that I have to trade my two or three most valuable pieces (let's say it's Reinhart and Myers for argument's sake), and I am guaranteed a championship this year, but I also am guaranteed to finish no better than say 24th overall for the next ten years, I still make that deal without hesitation. One championship is worth that much, even if Myers goes on to win 6 Norris trophies, Reinhart wins a couple of Hart's and scoring titles, and they end up with 2 or 3 cups each down the road somewhere else. |

That thought process is not wrong, especially for a Buffalo fan, however a team like Boston or say Chicago and Pittsburgh might have higher standards. They expect to be yearly contenders, and Seguin would have kept them in the conversation for a few years past that window.
They could have retooled by moving Bergeron in a year or 2 when he starts to slow down, allowing Seguin to anchor the middle of the ice. |

In camp, why not. As far as NHL projection, my high hopes is he becomes something between a Ryan Callahan and an Evander Kane without the pain in the rearness. |
