I have to agree... Looks great on paper.. but I don't know if Buffalo is exactly going ot change his tune or make him level up. - JVince11
He's one of those guys that strikes me as someone that won't be happy unless he's in the spotlight in the bigger markets with a quick shot at the Cup. Considering how ravenous they are in Winnepeg for the Jets, Kane could live like a king. Just the fact that he's turning his back on such a huge hockey market speaks volumes I think. |

I don't think NHL ready players are traded for conditional 7th round picks unless their name is John Scott. Wait. He went for a 5th to the Rangers. - TheSabresTaco
Well this team has no depth whatsoever and the kid is 24 so I wouldn't say he isn't ready to be called up or something. Also, Carcillo was traded from the Kings to Rangers for a 7th but not conditional. The difference is that Samuels-Thomas is a project while Carcillo has NHL experience |

i think he is more-so sick of losing and being on a team that can't attract better players or spend up to the cap limit to put talent on the ice around him. I thought I read somewhere that he is mad about Burmistov defecting too. |

I blame the jerseys. The Winnipeg jersey/logo is terrible. No player wants to wear that trash. |

Makes sense given that they lost Sobotka to the KHL (imo someone we really should have gone after for our bottom six) |

Ya that's a great plan let's start by changing the name "hockey heaven" to hockey purgatory while we're at it. Cause truly that's what buffalo sports emulate!! |

Eliminate the last 2/3 years just cuz they're too new...but yeah...ouch. Almost none have ever hit the NHL even for spot time or something - stashu
I think Dudley should have stayed as GM and Ramsey as coach when they moved from Atlanta . They had things going in the right direction. |

I feel real bad for the 40+ year old fans. Being a fan of the big two franchises of buffalo has the equivalence of putting your balls in a vice and giving yourself one slow turn each day. |

Wow...
Looking back at WPG/ATL's draft history for the last few years.. there is maybe 6 guys who I even recognize their names over the past 5 years.

That is just AWFUL drafting.
I see why E. Kane would be mad.. he has nothing to work with. - JVince11
I'm a fan of the Sabres just like you but in the 2000s we had way too many first round busts. Kryukov (2000 #15), Novotny (2001 #22), Zagrapan (2005 #13), Persson (2006 #24), No first in 2007 and good drafts after that. After 2009, you really can't determine who is a bust yet. Kassian is debate himself so I rank him as not a bust. But, not counting 2007, we went 4/9 in drafting in the first round in the 2000s. That's nearly a 50% bust rate. That's not good at all. Our drafting in deeper rounds was good in certain years but we need to nail every first rounder now and when we contending or else we won't have much new talent and we'll have to break apart the team like we did in the past two seasons. So, if we had better players out of those drafts, it might've prevented us from being where we are now. I know we can't get every pick right but if we improved to a 7/9 it could change depending on how significant the player is. Just stirring the pot. |

Tell me about it. I am fine with losing every game this season for the best end result. People are just impatient I guess. |

I certainly know that we have had our issues.. I was not saying that we are the pillar of drafting in the NHL. I was not trying to be a hypocrite but just looking into why their pipeline is so bad. |

A 1-0 win with a JT injury would be ideal for the first NYI game. |
