Bill,
As always thank you for a terrific read.
I hope, Rinaldo heard the message regarding penalties loud and clear. |

You seem to be pretty high on Hayes. Not sure he'll find a better situation than the Flyers. An opportunity to play with G if he can show he's capable and in a major city no less. - PhillySportsGuy
Playing with G is a great opportunity but he's going to have to take the initiative and really grab the ass by the horns if he wants to get there.

i didn't know stolarz and morin had such serious offseason surgeries - -davies-
I think it was just a strained achilles for Morin. He suffered the injury in his team's last playoff game I believe. |

I was pretty high on Zac at the end of the lockout-shortened season but this past year was such a step back I question if he's worth it anymore. If Rinaldo can't provide an effective instigator role vis-a-vis drawing more penalties than taking, I don't know why we keep him. |

I feel like depth is the reason why LA/BOS can find themselves on special teams a lot but still not have their their rhythm at ES broken. Being 10-11 F, and 5-6 D deep really helps there.
Flyers aren't comparable in terms of functional depth. - Tomahawk
During Frick and Frack's last few years, the depth was very strong. Flyers were able to withstand the team's excessive penalties. |

Yup, same.
I really thought he could develop into a Ian Laperriere type of player, but last year was a real step back. |

I'm sorry but I don't see Hayes as a fit. He wants guaranteed time in the NHL. Hexy's philosophy is the opposite of that. I don't see him being "lured" to Philly being told he can be the top prospect. Would be great and hate to be a Debbie downer. |

Guess it comes down to, what would we have to trade to Chicago to talk to Hayes? A prospect? |

a 2nd rounder + late round pick |

Bill, I think Hayes will sign with the NYI or CAR teams of the world to be guaranteed playing time. Or go to BOS where he has ties to the org. Why do you think the Flyers have a horse in this race? |

Why would Chicago do that? They risk losing him for nothing when they can lose him for a 2nd if they do nothing |

"It was a bit of a disappointment that I am not able to attend the Flyers' Development Camp this year. I want to extend a special thank you to friend and colleague Anthony Mingioni for gathering and sharing materials from the first day of camp yesterday."
He has been posting some great photos and tweets from the camp.

Yeah, would have to be something worth more than the 54th-overall pick compensation to even start the conversation. |

Because he is an NHL-ready winger who fits the size/skill profile the Flyers want. Hextall's philosophy is to avoid spending assets for aging vets -- not for a talented 22-year-old who would instantly become the top offensive prospect in a farm system basically devoid of projectable NHL scoring forwards, especially wingers.
