can the Flyers offer him a one way deal or does it have to be a two way entry level deal? - nastyflyergirl
All entry-level deals are two-way contracts. The max base salary he can get is $900K at the NHL level but there is a bit of wiggle room with signing bonus and a bit more with performance bonuses.
The cap cushion would limit his in-season cap hit, though collected bonuses could worsen the Flyers likely overage and cap penalties incurred in 2015-16.

would love to see them sign Kevin Hayes,
a speedy winger with size is a need
the Dubinsky contract, my first instinct is wow that is a lot of $, but I guess they just paid him what the going rate would be if he hit UFA
anthony has some encouraging tweets from the prospect camp
Anthony Mingioni @AnthonyMingioni
Call it Classic Swedish training but Oskar Lindbolm's passing & stick handling is as smooth as silk |

Yeah, guy's $ is capped no matter where he goes, so it's purely about fit. Why would he want to sign here, and have to knock out a veteran top-9 player from the roster, when he could go to FLA to play w/ his bro, or CGY to reunite w/ his linemates (Gaudreau/Arnold)? - Tomahawk
If the Flyers move VL, they'll have Voracek, Simmonds, Read, Umberger and Raffl as the top 5 wingers on the team. I definitely see him being able to find a spot in the top 6 this year. Read, Umberger and Raffl are all candidates to play with Couts on the 3rd line too.
1. Flyers give him a chance to play right away
2. Flyers were a playoff team last season
3. Flyers are thin at wing on the roster and system overall
4. Flyers are located 6 hours from his hometown
5. Hayes has an opportunity to play on a line with a top 5 center in hockey
I'm not saying he signs with the Flyers, but they offer incentives that not many other teams can |

Yes, I am aware of that....the point was HE NEVER wanted anything to do with Philly. That was a desperation hope.
At least with Kimmo and Scottie it was pretty clear they had interest.
I have no problem with the move if someone in the organization has INSIDE information that he is in fact interested in Philly. This whole Islanders approach of grabbing rights and convincing shouldnt happen here. - juiced
With Timonen and Hartnell, their new long-term contracts were announced on the same day as the trade with Nashville. So, yeah, it was pretty clear they had interest... seeing as how a pair of big contracts "magically" got done like that.
As for Hayes, I would of course want the Flyers to obtain permission to talk with Hayes' agent first and see if he was agreeable to signing here before I would trade assets to get his rights.
Why would Hayes sign here? How about the fact that there is no set-in-stone replacement for Hartnell PLUS when/if Lecavalier gets traded by the start of next season there would actually be two top-six spots available for someone to step up and win.
I'd call that a pretty good opportunity.

I also would have no problem with the conditions you laid forth and I do think we provide opportunity and upside for him as far as opportunity and development.
I was merely commenting on the idea of tading picks in a vacuum with no indication of interest...especially with Hexy saying we need to value our draft picks more than we may have in the past. That in no way means I dont think Hayes is worthy of a couple later picks if he wants to be here. We definitely could use some young size on the wings for sure.

Every young winger should want to play with Giroux. He'll get them goals and make them money. |

Bill if the Flyers were to trade a 2nd and additional asset for Hayes rights and fail to sign him do they still recieve the compensation pick Chicago would've recieved if they did not trade and failed to sign him? |

Also, I never like these types of holdouts. How about you sign with the team that drafted you and earn your spot on the roster? |
