Hmmm, no where do I see you explain how Kassian is without a doubt the better of the two? Hodgson is a top six player for the last 2 seasons. Kassian is not there yet.
Wouldnt Kassian have to do something consistent on the top six before we even start looking at any numbers? - boonerbuck
Points aren't far off with only 2/3 the ice time. plus minus for Cody was awful.... like almost edler awful!!

And bad as our team was for long stretches last year, we couldn't hold a candle to the Sabres in terms of raw sh!tiness. |

Least amount of goals ever for this franchise (191) which was not even the lowest in the NHL last season. That was Buffalo with 150. |

Cody was playing with top 6 players getting PP time though.... that boosted his totals because he was on a bad team thus got better minutes. Kassian played very little PP time and was playing with 3rd line scrubs for a majority.... |

quality of ice time is a huge difference. Especially if one is getting ample PP time while the other is not. And at the end of the day you're not paying Kassian to put up huge points. ideally he'll get you 20-30 goals and be a big time physical presence who can stand of for his teammates. Cody will get points and that's it. I'd much rather have Kassian going forward personally. |

School is hard on the body...
Any of you guys gonna cop NHL 15 for next gen systems this fall?
It'd be cool to start a league where we could trade and play among ourselves. 30 teams = 30 GM's.
Anyone interested? - Gullzy
I'm probably going to buy it
Edit: Though I am more of an RPG man myself, and a few of them coming out for next gen will probably monopolize my gaming time |

I'm definitely gonna buy it, but for the PS3 ..... PS4 is still too expensive IMO |

Except Kssian doesnt play physical very often. You are comparing Kassian as the player you want him to be.
Last season I kept track of Kassians hits on here. There were times he went 3 games without hits, then a single hit then 2 then back to none. At that same time Cody was hitting as often as him(i know, prolly hits like a pillow). Point being, Kassian only sometimes plays physical. Not more than a couple of games in a row often.
I want Kassian to be the player you are pretending him to be, dont get me wrong.... Virtanen will be that player IMO.

It's actually quite cheap considering that the PS3 started out at like 700$ |

Cody was the team leader in points. Point to his support but he outscored all of those players.
Look, you guys dont have to fabricate to cover Gillis' ass.

I don't really buy the support argument if the team is the Buffalo Sabres. Maybe quality of competition but not better linemates. That said, not a Hodgson fan |

I don't know why people need to change the details and facts around those players to make the trade better for their conscious. Gillis (frank)ed up at the time he made that trade. I think people are just in the habit of defending that move. Gillis is gone now... its safe to admit the mistake now. There will be good to come out of that trade but we can stop pretending now. |

It was definitely poor value at the time. Even if Kass was the higher ceiling prospect it just doesn't make sense. Even if Gillis had no choice but to trade him and got the best value he was going to get, it's not good value. We may end up with the better player in the long term but what is the point when we had a chance at the cup that same season
Edit: obviously Tyler Seguin is on another level than Cody Hodgson but it would have been like the Bruins trading Seguin straight up for Teuvo Teravainen the TDL before their cup run |

I agree. It wasnt my intention to argue Cody vrs Kassian but people keep dragging Cody and Buffalo into the post. It actually started with a comment about Gillis possibly being a genius with this move. I was reminding people about where the trade put us with timing... which helped lead to this disaster. What Cody has done(or hasnt) elsewhere is really irrelevant.

So few people are willing to consider what you just said. And it doesnt mean Kassian is not going to be good... or that Cody is the next Toews. |
