Why in the world would any player in their right mind leave a beautiful city in Florida to go to the city where hockey players go to die? |

Wow, blue and white coloured glasses much?
Hedman, Drouin, Johnson, Palat, Killorn, Koekkoek, Vasilevskiy, DeAngelo, Kucherov, Nesterov, Panik, Gudas, Paquette, Erne, Connolly, Barberio, Sustr, Korobov...
For young guns in the NHL or near future NHL upside in significant roles.
Leafs: Gardiner, Rielly.... uh.... Ashton (sort of).... yeah, that's about it.
nice try though - OzBolts
LOL You name every young player/prospect on Tampa but name no one on the Leafs. You didn't even mention Nylander or Brown or Finn or Percy.
And my comment was "I Don't Think The Leafs Are as Bad as Most Think". Blue & White goggles? LOL. How is that a homer comment? |

You mean the tweet Stamkos himself favourited?
Does he too fall under the idiot(twat) category for you?
Or are you just mad that you were the only guy who actually got up and ran for the exit? |

Guys, relax.
The chances of Stamkos coming to Toronto are slim to none. If by some goof of luck he does make the jump, it's not for 2 years at the earliest. So calm down. Only he knows whether he would or not, so battling each other armed with nothing more than your own speculation is a silly and fruitless endeavor. |

Almost everyone forgets he was a Calder torphy winner a couple years before we traded for him. |

That's what I have been saying... we have a full hockey year before the Bolts can negotiate and 2 years before the Leafs if he hasn't resigned already... lets enjoy the season coming up I think the Lightning and Leafs will both be fun teams to watch with their offense. I'll being a homer take the Bolts to finish ahead of the Leafs... |

Did he really? I don't follow him, but he only showed two favorites and neither were that HN article. |

Loved that you guys signed Morrow and Boyle for 3.5 combined. Wish Nonis would have been on that...
I think Tampa will be better too, but they're right up against the cap aren't they? Last time I looked they had a full 23 man roster signed, but were about 1 mill or so over the cap. I think. |

Once you add Panik as the 13th forward that puts the players at 24... but the Bolts get LTIR on Ohlund for 3.6MM when final rosters are set so that puts them back under the cap by about 2 million to start the season. They are allowed to be over the cap until the final roster is set.

There can be NO debate about Tampa having a better roster, better prospects, more potential, closer to the cup etc... Really?
Goaltending... Both teams looked crappy when their starters went down. Bishop had better numbers but it was also a career year sort of out of nowhere. This was Bernier's first season as a starter. Last year's edge goes to Tampa, but I would not trade Bernier for Bishop. Their career stat are almost identical and Bernier is 2 years younger. Probably a toss-up here. Right now,of Reimer is the better backup. Thank God you guys got rid of Lindback.
Defense...Tampa has the best Dman in Hedman, but Rielly looked better than Hedman in their rookie seasons. I would really think hard about a straight up trade there even though Hedman is much better today. After that ... you can argue that the Leafs have the next best couple in Phaneuf and Gardiner. I am not including Franson because he is likely to be traded. They also have Finn in the system, probably the best D-prospect not on the big team. Tampa wins top D - Toronto probably wins depth.
Forwards...We don't include Stamkos because the whole point to this thread is whether Stamkos would be closer to a cup in Tampa or Toronto. Toronto wins the top line, especially considering they do it with a 3rd line center. Tampa has the next best couple and then Toronto again at the next teir down.
Toronto wins the two next best forwards (after Stamkos). Depth is pretty much a toss up and I think Tampa clearly wins the best young forwards.
Farm ... I realize that the performance of the AHL affiliate is not wholly indicative of the quality of the farm, but Toronto was MUCH better and was not a team loaded with vet's.
Oh, and the top scorer in the OHL last year was a Toronto Prospect.
So I am not prepared to say Toronto has a better surrounding cast for Stamkos but for some people here to categorically state that Tampa is better is pretty silly. At the very least the two organizations compare fairly well. |
