Yes, but it hasn't been announced yet.

There can be NO debate about Tampa having a better roster, better prospects, more potential, closer to the cup etc... Really?
Goaltending... Both teams looked crappy when their starters went down. Bishop had better numbers but it was also a career year sort of out of nowhere. This was Bernier's first season as a starter. Last year's edge goes to Tampa, but I would not trade Bernier for Bishop. Their career stat are almost identical and Bernier is 2 years younger. Probably a toss-up here. Right now,of Reimer is the better backup. Thank God you guys got rid of Lindback.
Defense...Tampa has the best Dman in Hedman, but Rielly looked better than Hedman in their rookie seasons. I would really think hard about a straight up trade there even though Hedman is much better today. After that ... you can argue that the Leafs have the next best couple in Phaneuf and Gardiner. I am not including Franson because he is likely to be traded. They also have Finn in the system, probably the best D-prospect not on the big team. Tampa wins top D - Toronto probably wins depth.
Forwards...We don't include Stamkos because the whole point to this thread is whether Stamkos would be closer to a cup in Tampa or Toronto. Toronto wins the top line, especially considering they do it with a 3rd line center. Tampa has the next best couple and then Toronto again at the next teir down.
Toronto wins the two next best forwards (after Stamkos). Depth is pretty much a toss up and I think Tampa clearly wins the best young forwards.
Farm ... I realize that the performance of the AHL affiliate is not wholly indicative of the quality of the farm, but Toronto was MUCH better and was not a team loaded with vet's.
Oh, and the top scorer in the OHL last year was a Toronto Prospect.
So I am not prepared to say Toronto has a better surrounding cast for Stamkos but for some people here to categorically state that Tampa is better is pretty silly. At the very least the two organizations compare fairly well. - Aetherial
Tampas nhl roster and farm are both better than the leafs in every single category. |

It's really no contest. There are maybe 2 or 3 teams in the entire nhl that wouldnt trade their entire rosters and farms for tampas right now. |

Goaltending: bishop is coming off a vezina nomination yet you wouldnt trade bernier straight up for him? Okay....and then you manage to forget about vasilevski who is the best goaltender not in the nhl and arguably tampas top prospect ahead of drouin.
Defense: hedman was arguably a top 10 defender in the league last year and definitely top 15. Reillys absolute max potential is being as goof as hedman is now but you wouldn't trade reilly for hedman? Yea okay. And then you say depth goes to toronto? Tampa has stralman, carle, and garrison who are bonafide top 4 guys. Toronto has the 2nd best guy out of either team in phaneufbut tampa has the next best 3 defenders with the guys I just mentioned.
Forwards: after stammer, kessel is obviously the next guy. Id even give you jvr as the 2nd best guy. But then tampa has kucherov, palat, callahan, filppula, panik, boyle. And drouin has the potential to be better than kessel. Filppula is a better center than any center on the leafs. Palat is the best 2 way forward. I forgot about tyler johnson too. Your.bragging about the ohl leading scorer being leafs property? Well johnson led the entire ahl in scoring last year. The lightening are so much more balanced than the leafs from top to bottom offensively. Kucherov will likely develop into a lupul on steroids.
Farm: vasilevski, drouin, namestenkov, koekkoek, deangelo...no contest.
Lets not even get started on coaching and actual salary cup structure. The phaneuf, clarkson, and komarov contracts are going to be huge obstacles to.field a deep team. |

There's nothing to explain. If you can't see the obvious difference in talent level or skill level in both AHL/NHL organizations between Toronto and Tampa Bay then you are blind...You talk about your #1 goal scorer in the juniors and seem to forget about Drouin . You talk about bernier and bishop and seem to forget about Vasilevskiy. You talk about depth? Depth is not even comparable. TB has one of if not the deepest prospect pool in the league, rated on more than 1 occasion as #1 or #2.
The fact you said Toronto wins first line because they have a 3C playing on it is rediculous. Do you know who our 1C is? Stamkos. Who are his wingers? Anyone. Because hes (frank)ing brilliant.
You have no depth compared to tampa bay at all |

buddy, do you watch Toronto games? Dion is a (frank)ing clown out there. He's almost your worse defenseman, the amount of mistakes he makes is absurd for a guy with that experience and responsibility as captain. |

You mean the tweet Stamkos himself favourited?
Does he too fall under the idiot(twat) category for you?
Or are you just mad that you were the only guy who actually got up and ran for the exit? - systemtool

So you gave me the top forwards, then listed all Tampa's forwards being better than the Leafs (I gave Tampa the forward depth also).
You took a two-year older Bishop on a career year over Bernier but did not address the near identical career stats. (I gave them a toss-up).
You think Drouin has potential to be better than Kessel. Ok fine, but that and 2 bucks will get you a Tim's. I can also point out that many scouts said that Nylander was the most talented player at the last draft. And Connor Brown put up comparable PPG in a tougher league. (although Connor Brown was an older junior which is a red flag)
Stralman Garrison and Carle don't impress me all that much. Vancouver and NYR let Garrison and Stralman walk for nothing. As far as contracts, Stralman's is ridiculous.
You brag about your ahl scorer but don't mention that the Leafs farm team was WAY better.
... as pointed out earlier, simply mentioning prospect names means absolutely nothing to me I could do the same.
The biggest dfference between your argument and mine is that your argument is based almost entirely on potential and your guesses of how players project. The AHL results (at a team level) don't agree with you, sorry.
All you really did here was prove my point ... As much as I like the Lightning's young players, it is not a slam dunk that the Lightning offer a better supporting cast than the Leafs. |
