Bill great article as always. I am sure Zepp will fit in just fine on the Phantoms and Alderson seems like a dark horse o make the fourth line for sure.
On another note, how can the FLyers enter the season without shedding salary? It seems all of their contracts are one-way and they can't be hidden in the AHL for cap relief during that first day before Pronger goes on LTIR. Alderson would be a serviceable low cost addition to the lineup if they were to move a salary or two. |

Although not ideal, the Flyers could designate Pronger for LTIR the day before the season. That is one way to do it. Another way is to waive a vet or two and risk the player being claimed. If they go unclaimed, the player can stay put when Pronger is put on LTIR on the first day of the season. '
Ultimately, though, I still think Lecavalier will be traded before the start of next season.

You still think VL will be traded? I would not mind seeing him get a chance to play centre on 3rd line, while moving #14 to 2nd line.
Do you see the Flyers " kicking tires" in regards to E Kane? |

Why is it that the Flyers used a buyout on Danny B, yet the Habs were able to trade him for a useful play in PA Parenteau? |

Much lower cap hit now and one year til contract expiration instead of 2. Also Parenteau had worn out his welcome with Patrick Roy and the deal made sense for both teams. |

Preds are reportedly in on Roy. Just don't see a spot for vinny anywhere. Maybe Florida is still an option? |

Because the Flyers and everything they do is horrible, evil and a failure.
That seems more likely than the terms for trading Briere were better for the Habs. |

hHaving seen Roy play game-in and game-out during his time in dallas, I can tell you that I think, even in sharp decline, Lecavalier awful yea has more to offer. Of course, cap hit and term may tilt the scales. |

You would think a point per game playoff player would garner some interest in the trade market.
I think if the Jackets were able to find a taker for RJ Umberger coming off multiple injuries, and having a bad contract, the Flyers could have found some interest in Briere. |

Please unless you are totally new to this board you know what PL's agenda\motivation\stance is.
And dont get me wrong, a good amount of it is justified!!!! In the end we all want a cup for our team. |

He also had a ntc and financially it was better for briere to take the the buyout then compound his earnings by signing with another team. Also hes far removed from a point per game player. |

I wouldn't necessarily agree with this..
PL said he is a PPG playoff performer and last season was the first time he has missed that substantially with 7 points in 16 games.
The prior season he had 13 points in 11 playoff games.

I dont see kane coming here. Looks like berube wants to run a tight ship amd kane doesnt quite fit that mold. Furthermore schenn is a more natural center and his shooting percentage has been in double digits since he's been here (3 years). Also they just signed him to a cap friendly deal with their current cap situation... Off the top of my head id imagine kane makes about 2 mill a year more than schenn but thats just shooting bullets in the dark. |

13 pts in 11 games thanks in part tp lousy officiating (being 2 feet offsides) and the pens not icing an nhl goaltender that series. |

All your points make sense. But, I just can't see RJ being on top line. Giroux needs somebody on that left side.
B Schenn would be a better case to convert to LW as we saw VL could not adapt.

I doubt umberger is our permanent top line winger by the allstar break. VL moving to center just impedes one of the younger players at center... Id give him away for a bag of pucks at this point. |
