Haha. That's amusing.
I get it. I only asked because they kept saying during the meeting about how they want the kids to play together and win together in Rochester. So I figured if I was being told I had to be patient and let the kids develop, I'd ask if they were going to make any changes to the amount of exposure we have to the team here in Buffalo without having to commute the 1:30 drive down the thruway. - HonkFortheGoose

I am talking about an assistant coach, not starting a TV station or anything like that.
Fact: The Sabres just opened their development camp with a ton of players who we expect to play a big role with this organization in the future
Fact: The Sabres need to hire assistant coaches
Fact: The Sabres opened their development camp with having openings on their coaching staff
Something is wrong there if you ask me. Whether its Dineen or whomever the fact that there are openings on the coaching staff and they started camp without a full staff is wrong IMO. - Stripes77
I see what you're saying, but I don't want them to just hire people to have them either.
Cassidy is the guy in Rochester. He's the one that's going to be working with these kids more than any of the assistants in the near future anyway. So I don't see a huge issue right now. |

i agree they need to have those positions filled.. but to say that they screwed up by not having Dineen as one of them is not fair. Dineen might not get along with Nolan and might think that by the time the team is good he will be the sacrificial lamb.
do they need ACs.. yes

Either way, you're looking at at least 2 hours in just travel time. One hour there, one hour back. And it's the WORST. DRIVE. EVER. It's horribly boring and if the weather kicks up at all, it's a huge pain. |

I know how boring the drive is...too well.
Lived in Kenmore for a few months while my future wife was in Rochester, so I did that drive MANY, MANY times...
It got to the point where I would drive the back roads just to avoid the monotony of I-90. |

He does have a point. It's kind of odd that they don't have their full staff in place by now. For me, it doesn't have to be Kevin Dineen, but you'd think they'd have a staff by now. They're either having trouble getting someone to sign on (which I doubt) or they're looking for a certain Type A personality that isn't too common. |

I would love to go to games there more often. The issue I run into is that most of the home games seem to be on Wednesday and Friday nights. I work M-F until 5. Getting there by 7 for the game ends up tough because then I'm pretty much forced to eat the terrible food they have there at the arena or starve until I get home at 11:30 or so. It leaves me no time to go home for any real length of time (if at all) and I have a dog. I can't exactly leave at 7:30 am and expect he'll be fine until 11:30 pm.
I end up limited to only having the option of about 4 games to choose from. If I'm lucky. |

I find it a bit odd as well, but at the same time, it's not like they don't have anyone to run camp either. |

For something like that, I would take an hour of vacation or two. I usually budget a couple of vacation days a year where I would take only a couple hours off anyway. I'd never be able to pull off the "leave right after work, don't eat" routine, not for a drive to Rochester. |

I'd love to move back to Rochester now...chance to see all these great prospects play...I'm pretty sure I'd spring for season tickets. |

I wouldn't mind doing it maybe once. But I'd have to coordinate it on a day I know my roommate is going to be home so that I know my dog hasn't been in his crate allllllllllll day.
With the way things are here right now, it would just be nice to have a bit more access to what's going on there without having to make such a long commute. |

Yeah my Wife is coming, and I am bringing my little brother as he has never been to a hockey game. Figured I would bring him to a free one first so if he doesn't like it I won't throw money away on a real game |
