Not necessarily. I think it might be deals similar to the Hartnell-Umberger deal, where he trades a vet for a vet that fits better and adds a pick. I don't think he wants to rush anyone, even if there's an open slot.
Now, hypothetically, if he's got Laughton tearing it up in the AHL, and has a deal where he can get a 2nd rounder for Umberger, maybe he does it and then slides Laughton up - Jsaquella
challenging to pull off the top scenario i think...not the vet for vet, but the better fit/pick part.
i don't think he will rush anyone...so it's a matter of how do you acquire the picks without killing the team. |

I just like the mix better with Giroux and Voracek split up. They're both dynamic guys that can drive offense and control the puck. Getting Schenn and/or Simmonds with one of them would help those guys a lot at ES and in turn likely be better for the teams as a whole - Jsaquella
It was mentioned more than once at the Town Hall how much chemistry G and Czechie have and even was discussed that chemistry with third guy on that line doesn't have to be perfect to get production. It sure didn't sound like anyone there was interested in breaking them up.

I think edmontons problem is that they acquired a bunch of talent at forward without getting any defenseman. Couple that with their reluctance to trade any of their young talent and the unwillingness of free agents to sign there and it created a huge hole.
They were a classic team that went BPA in every draft but didn't use their assets to get better in other areas. They simply kept drafting top 6, finesse players and tried making it work - PhillySportsGuy
You could also make the point that they were bad in the wrong years... no disrespect to the all the guys that went near the top of the 2010-12 drafts, but there was a bit of a gulf in franchise-level talent in the years between Tavares and MacKinnon.
Hall, RNH and Yakupov are/will be good players, but not the kind of guys you can hitch your wagon to and expect to get very far. |

I love Taylor Hall. The kid has everything but a decent team around him. |

I think he's terrific too, but I'd stop well short of trading Giroux for him. |

Yeah. All things aren't equal, but I would currently rather have seguin than hall and Murray than Yak |

Yeah. I was just looking for depth guys. Guys I like or mentioned before. I you can get them on the cheap or eve PTO to see if they can provide something.

R.Carter - J35Bacher
I'd be interested in Fraser or Galiardi. Mueller, I don't see him coming over except for a payday. Booth, no interest. As for Penner, we're trying to be a faster skating team, and he won't help there. Ryan Carter, no thanks. |

Well yes, if we're talking "good" as in good and evil. But if we're talking "good" as in excelling at your craft, I'd say he was pretty good in death. |
