Yeah, but I wouldn't trade Giroux for any number 1 since Crosby. - jmatchett383
I'd probably take Stamkos, and have to think hard about Tavares... the others I agree are < Giroux, which is pretty awesome when you think about it. |

If I was a defenseman on that roster last year, and I was a healthy scratch, I'd consider a new profession or investigate a nice ECHL city to play in.
The Phantoms are going to be able to run out some good, young blue liners this year. |

Well yes, unless he plays for the Flyers.
He's 19 today. On Wednesday, he'll be 20, thus not eligible for junior hockey. |

I don't think that will be a problem. Most of their vets walked anyway. |

Gostisbehere-Alt
Pettersson-Hagg
Now this is exciting! Great time to evaluate. Gostisbehere and Hagg should see plenty of time to develop their offense. |

It's a tough call. I don't wanna overrate Toews but he's has a nice balanced two way game, solid faceoff man, who's pretty clutch. Just not on the same level of point producing as the rest. I suppose I'm asking who are today's Sakic, Yzerman and Lemieux? |

So Jeff Samardzija was picked to pitch for the NL All Star team, but was traded like 2 weeks ago to the A's in the AL.
So now, he can't pitch in the All Star game. He's wearing generic NL gear, but is going to watch from the pen/dugout, ineligible to pitch since he basically was selected as an NL All Star but now plays in the AL.
That's so stupid. He should be pitching for the NL, since his performance as a National League pitcher deemed him good enough for an All Star appearance.
But, since the game "means something" they can't just say (frank) it because someone will cry foul (no pun intended).
That is bizarre and dumb. |

He plays for a really good team in the AL too. If he gave up runs, it would look really strange. It sucks for him because it's his first all star game.
He could have been an NFL first round pick and he made the MLB All Star Game. Pretty impressive. |

If I could start my franchise and pick any C to build around:
1. Stamkos
2. Kopitar
3. Crosby
4. Malkin
5. Tavares
6. Giroux
7. Johansen
8. Toews
9. MacKinnon
10. Drouin
Honorable mention: Scheifele, Barkov |
