CHL only has players to 20 yrs old. They can have up to two imports outside of North America per team. Neither of those examples would work for the CHL. Nylander is 18 and wasn't drafted by the CHL prior to the Leafs drafting him. There fore he has an option. If the Steelheads had drafted him last season if he came to NA this season he would have to play in Mississauga. - mayorofangrytown
What exactly is Nylander's option then? |

I will say it's better than this ridiculous piece of crap:
- mayorofangrytown
it is. by a country mile. the burger king logo, in and of itself, is not bad. the jersey, otoh, is (frank)ing horrendous.
those ducks jerseys...there aren't enough words. it's simply embarrassing that the nhl approved this. even if it was only a single game, these should never, and i mean never, have even been printed on paper, let alone on knit mesh. |

Either he makes the Leafs or he's going back to Sweden for next season, he's already said Mississauga is not an option for him. |

He has all his options open. If he doesn't make the Leafs he can join his junior team (if he does he's bound by the CHL constraints going forward) or he can opt for the Marlies in the AHL. He could also return to his European club.
The world is his oyster. |

If he doesn't make the Leafs it's all on him and the club to decide. I'm sure he doesn't want to tie himself to the CHL. It would make all the sense in the world for him to opt out. |

According to Mark Edwards the OHL is not an option, he'll make more money going back to Sweden then the $900 per week with the OHL stipend. |

It doesn't really matter. He's going to be dominating the NHL and leading the Leafs to the playoffs. |

And I presume the reason he's bound to Mississauga is because he was drafted by them in the Import Draft?
What if he was undrafted? Could he just sign anywhere in the CHL? |

Correct he was selected in the import draft. Each CHL team is only allowed 2 imports per team. Some didn't even make a selection this year.

The one's who don't select usually have 1 or more import already on their team I would think. |

Even the AHL is a better option. It was a total flyer by Mississauga. |
