The Oilers were a markedly better team than the Penguins when Gretzky and Lemieux made their debuts, respectively. - Jsaquella
Not by much. Remember the Oilers played against 3 other expansion clubs who didn't have the advantage of having 99 on the roster. I'd call it a wash. |

Everyone who designed sports jerseys was seemingly trying to make everything teal back in the mid-90's.
It's kind of like how much grunge singers changed every vowel to the letter "A".

It wasn't that bad, though. The ducks jerseys are a couple of my all time favorites

Sports always will be a business.
Watch the anger bubble up when a prominent professional sports league starts selling ad space on player jerseys like they do in European hockey or soccer.
People will flip their poop. |

I wasn't necessarily killing the design as much as I was killing the choice of teal.
The Flyers; colors are orange, black, and white. Just...make those work somehow.
I'd love to see an attempt at a new crest, although I think I am in the minority with that one. |

I'm actually surprised they haven't started doing that yet (thankfully)... With the potential profits on it just sitting out there, I guess it's only a matter of time until they do. |

Ya, I actually being one of the teams with only one logo. Some teams (like the Bruins) pull it off, but overall I think alternate logos tend to look tacky. |

I just get blank replicas cheap and then take them to a place for the "authentic" stitching. It's like an extra $40-$50, but looks so much better than the silk screening you get with replicas. |

Not really what you said. Gretzky's first season was with a team of misfits and cast offs, but by season two, Messier, Anderson, Coffey and Kurri were in the lineup with him and by year three, those guys were all scoring 80+ points.
Lemieux went to the worst team in the NHL, and they stayed a bad team for several years before Patrick was able to rebuild them. By Gretzky's 4th season, the Oilers were in the SCF. They weren't struggling
Lemieux's team missed the playoffs his first 4 seasons. They were awful. Hell they didn't even crack .500 until Lemieux's 4th season. - Jsaquella
Of course it could be argued Gretzky had a bigger impact on his teammates, that he made those around him better in a way Lemieux couldn't. |

I liked the Flames' flaming horse logo. Nothing can top the Islanders' fisherman for bad 3rd jersey logos, though. |

We need a culture change. Maybe change the colors to black and gold, maybe have a picture of a skating arctic bird creature, and have a huge mural of our team's best player made up of small pictures of said player next to our arena entrance...should do pretty well. |
