That has to be considered as well.
Hopefully VL has a bounceback year, but there's little doubt we're stuck with him when it's clear the team would rather move on. - wolfhounds
Maybe he'll go play in the KHL? |

Always liked Boucher.
Really think he takes them all the way to the SCF that year as the starter if he doesn't get hurt against Boston.

The one thing with LeCavalier is he was the best forward on the team at the start of the year last year when they couldn't score to save their lives, and Berube ha them playing ridiculously tight.
You have to hope he can bounce back somewhat, and play at a level that allows the team to trade him without taking BS back. Same for Umberger. |

I really hope it will be enjoyable in a few years time when Umberger, LeCavalier and Streit are under contract having a combined cap hit of roughly 14 million.
 - flyer_nutter
I really dont think you are seeing anyone on this board parading around claiming all these moves Homer made were fantastic and that somec ould have been avoided, but I think Hexy desreves the benefit of the doubt.
look at it this way...2 years ago Torts tried to get Boyle to be a responsible 2 way C and he pounded away at it day after day...look what Boyle was this year! It finally set in . I get Vinny is an old dog and it's a new trick but maybe last year was the "call to arms" that he has to change his game the same way Yzerman and Modano had to once they aged out. I think displaying a little faith that he is a prideful professional is warranted given how embarassing last year had to be for him. If he performs like he did 2 years ago there is a good chance we can move him at the trade deadline...hopefully by then Laughton is ready for a more premanent role or it becomes apparent we arent going deep in playoffs and we unload the contract and eave Laughton where he is.

Sanheim looks skinny, smaller than Ghost because he's so thin, fragile looking.

Weird, is Hagg (6'2) slouching? He looks way shorter than Sanheim (6'3), and just a bit taller than Ghost (5'11). |

I have no doubt that he can bounce back. I think he will put up 25 goals 25 assists and play reasonably well for a #2 center. I also think you will see him on the top PP unit with G and Simmonds... He will be okay.
HOWEVER, I also would be completely okay if they were able to move him.
Here is the ideal scenario. He doesnt go anywhere this year... staying put he puts up reallly good numbers. Laughton gets to play all year with the Phantoms.
Vinny gets tarded next off-season, Laughton moves up to 3rd line C, Couts to 2nd line C.

Couldn't have said it better myself. I also think it depends on who he plays with at 5 on 5. I've seen people here say to move down Voracek to play with Vinny and I wouldn't be opposed to that idea. |

Let's be honest: All four players -- Lecavalier, Roy, Jokinen and Ribeiro -- aren't worth all of the time we spend on them.
I pity David Poile. Those are the signings you make when you are a desperate GM, when you can see the axe swinging if/when you don't make the playoffs.
Let me put it this way: If I was a GM and I've missed the playoffs two seasons in a row, I don't think I'd be counting on Derek Roy, Olli Jokinen and Mike Ribeiro to save my ass.
Maybe if it was 2007. But not 2014.
The best thing about Vinny is at least he's just one guy. You can move him down or scratch him if he doesn't play well. It's costly, but at least he's just one guy. While the other three guys are cheap, they're still on your NHL roster. - AllInForFlyers
