Fox is a pure sniper, anyone who can score 64 goals in the OHL, rack up a bunch of pims has to be a good prospect. This guy is the perfect fit for the Sedins.

Going to rudely disagree with this horsepoop.....

@DCT Fox was a metaphor for any young player who earns a chance. Only saying I, personally, would rather watch tomorrow's Canucks in situations they are destined to play than to watch guys who are not capable of sustaining that level of hockey over the course of the season. Higgins is a fine player, but I think we have seen him in the top six enough to know he doesn't belong there.

We're trying to figure out where Aquilini could hide a 777.

All we have to do is tell his ex-wife that the wine collection was on that flight; we should hear the breaking news from CNN of it being found by the AM

Ahhh, gotcha & agree. I have a feeling Desjardins understands chemistry/skillsets better than AV & Torts combined AND is more likely to give youth a chance. Shinkaruk is my guy though.

I agree in general with what you are saying but I equally don't want to see us burn prospects by shoving them in situations they aren't ready for. Hopping from the CHL to the NHL is a leap reserved for elite talent. An overager like Fox should be plying his trade his season in the AHL to get him against tougher competition. If he's still PPG in the AHL then maybe he's worth considering for next season.

Again, Fox was mearly a metaphor for youth, but what if the kid comes to camp fit and hungry and clicks with guys during preseason, putting up big numbers?

Maybe he realized that his "Meat and Potatoes Persona" isn't really a fit for our "Nuke a Gay Whale for Jesus" style around here

Suck again this season, develop an identity = With some luck McDavid in exchange for playoff $$$.
- VanHockeyGuy

Barring some kind of a Cleveland Cavaliers style lottery miracle the Canucks will not get McDavid or Eichel.

Last year was the perfect storm of awfulness and 5 teams still finished worse than Vancouver. Look at the current rosters of Florida, Calgary, Buffalo, Ottawa, Arizona, Carolina, New Jersey, Edmonton, Detroit, Toronto.

Agreed. The McDavid talk was funny until some people seemed to believe it was a realistic alternative. Only way we'll have any chance at either McDavid or Eichel is if BUF, FLO, EDM ,etc send us their 1st rd pick in a trade. Again, highly doubtful.

Tanking for picks has to have the same drawbacks as sitting back on a lead... once that lead is gone, it is difficult to get it back and once you start tanking, it is hard to get the winning results back.

I don't think we can be as bad as those teams mentioned with our current lineup unless some moves are made and assets are unloaded and pick up some picks.

The game plan or philosophy should be consistent from year to year and most of the work should be done by management staff through drafting, trading and signing free agents etc... Always have competition for spots, have youth in the system to develop and push for these spots and have a certain amount of turn over from year to year to make sure there are these spots. and ffs, keep the ntc crap to a minimum with maybe 5 max for the team, and that really sounds like too many...

Is DF going to be on the opening night roster? Maybe for the 9 games, but not likely more. I don't want to see Higgy on the 2nd line all year either, maybe for a game here and there. I would rather see ewth from Utica given the opportunity, everything else being close to equal.

Are we a cup contender? not likely, but I think the org wants to make the playoffs and see what happens from there.

What was that KG franked quote? Anything is possible?
