Clarkson we can have serve Cotton Candy if all else fails.

You could've had Jay Rosehill perform that same role at a fraction of the cost. Another Flyers win.

EDIT: Missed the edit, nice

arguing 1967 would be pointless since the Flyers last won in 74 -- also a buttload of a long time ago.

So today is Rosehill's birthday. I'm thinking bus fare to Allentown would be a lovely gift.

So, cause I have some time on my hands, here is my Top Ten Flyer's playmakers of all time.

1. Bobby Clarke
Cmon, back to back years of 89 assists?? Clarke was an amazing passer who made every guy he skated with that much better. Seriously, you think Reggie Leach is scoring 60 goals in Oakland or Bill Flett is potting 43 playing with anyone else?

2. Peter Forsberg
He was only here for a very short time, but man this guy could pass the puck! Foppa was an awesome combo of soft hands and fantastic hockey sense.

3. Claude Giroux
Another guy that knows how to thread the needle, he is especially lethal on the pp.

4. Mark Recchi
Not only was he a great playmaker, but he knew when to pass and when to shoot which is a skill that really can't be taught.

5. Eric Lindros
People remember the goals and hits, but the Big E was a fantastic playmaker as well.

6. Mark Howe
His hockey sense was off the charts and he was one of the most accurate passers I have ever had the pleasure to watch.

7. Bill Barber
One of the best all around forwards of his generation, Barber was an excellent passer.

8. Chris Pronger
Another guy who knew when to fire the puck or when to dish it off. He set up plays from the point as well as anyone who ever wore a Flyers jersey.

9. Ken Linseman
In his one full healthy season playing with "The Rat", Paul Holmgren scored 30 goals. Linseman had great hockey sense and soft hands and probably would have had some 100 point seasons if he didn't spend so much time in the box.

10. Jaromir Jagr
Wasn't here long and was far past his prime, but Jags was still a fantastic passer and almost impossible to separate from the puck along the wall.

Just missed the cut:
Andre Lacroix
Rick Macleish
Rod Brind'amour
Jake Voracek

You may now return to arguing about VL, the cap and Corsi numbers.

You really should not make stuff up and pretend to understand something you do not. Read any basic coaches guideline on the role of center and you will see that the first responsibility on D is to break up any pass through the triangle and back up each D man when he goes into the corner. If you have no references on the positioning and role of center I can help you.

Big difference between basic fundamentals of Pee Wee hockey, and the systems used by NHL teams today. The first forward back on the back check assumes the center position, and the defensive responsibilities of the Center position, on many teams. It's fluid. And I'd be happy to discuss systems play in depth with you.

Absolutely. When you're a kid, they positional fundamentals because you need some sort of structure. At the NHL level, it's not like they have specific lanes where players just skate up and down. There's far too much movement and speed in today's game for players to always cover the same man/area.

Definitely welcome more stuff like this and your lists for sure. the off season is long

1 - Can't say most beloved in the sense of that statement but one of my faves was Mark Messier. yes I know he played for the Edmonton team that beat us twice and the MUCH hated Rangers but I really admired the way he played. the other 3 ended up playing for the Flyers so they don't count but I am talking about prior to coming here.......JR, Pronger and Forsberg (yes, loved watching him despite the Lindros trade

2 - Barnaby and kasparaitis are two that pop in my head

- nastyflyergirl

Messier is a creeper... I can never unsee that Gary Coleman pic. ***shiver***
