I just think Meuller has a better skill set to play in the top 6 then raffl. I would rather have Meuller say playing wing with Vinny and Simmonds.]

That Vinny line could be a nightmare defensively. - MBFlyerfan
I don't think it would be any worse then Schenn-Vinny-Simmonds last season.
It wouldn't be a line I put in tough situations and every attempt would be made to shelter them. However, Umberger can handle himself defensively and Akeson would need to prove he can produce offense while playing responsibleor be replaced on that line by someone like Raffl. |

That pick is a 2nd rounder in next year's draft, which is being hailed as an insanely deep draft. So why would they rather get a 3rd round pick and later pick? - jmatchett383
Yeah, supposedly near as deep as 2003... guys that went in the 2nd that year: Bergeron, Weber, Carle, L. Eriksson, Backes, Klein, Howard, Crawford.

Just to let you know but any FA still out there have warts. Unless we are getting a wing back in some trade any player looked at in FA right now isn't perfect or has something to question. Still he is young enough to take the chance on and as JMatchett said if he isn't playing in the top 6 then I wouldn't sign him. - J35Bacher
Do you think that I'm not aware of that? I'd rather stick with what they have. |

Exactly. If you want to get his rights, it's going to need to be a few 3rd+ picks and/or roster players and/or prospects. |

Didn't think he was that agile or could turn that fast. But, if you insist... |

oK. I just don't think they are good enouugh with what is currently there so taking a 1 year flier wouldn't hurt. Worst case is he is mediocore and you move on. Bst case is he plays well and gives you another option next year. |

its a scouting report on a Russian player. Its implied! You only take note when is says, "suprisingly enough, has a strong work ethic." |

What about trying G out on a wing? Wasn't he drafted as a wing and played wing internationally? With the others having so much difficulty making the switch, why not. BSchenn and VL stay at center where they are comfortable.

i've seen a lot of people splitting G and Jake up but that combo on the ice is pretty nasty together. G seems to have the most chemistry with Jake.

What does that have to do with the depth of the 2003 NHL draft's second round? |

Yeah, it would be tough for the Flyers to cobble together some package of picks that would be worth more than #54 in 2015.
Not sure the Hawks could really assume much salary in any deal, either.
Best bet may be prospect for prospect... like Laughton for Hayes, or Hagg for Hayes, something like that. |

I'm not opposed to moving G to the wing but it has to be one hell of a Center coming in to take over. Vinny is not that guy.

Agreed he is. Just thinking of ways to get the most out guys like VL and Bchenn as neither appear to be going anywhere. G will put up points no matter where he plays. |

VL can stay at the #2C spot. Schenn produced similarly at wing or C, so I'd be comfortable moving him to the top LW spot. Just my take. |

I believe that B Schenn is only going to get better and VL is only going to get worse. Personally, I would leave VL on the 4th line unless his play warrants a promotion up the depth chart. |

Heck no. Kane is not some budding superstar player. He's a very good LW. I'd rather move B Schenn to Giroux's wing and probably get similar production. - jmatchett383
I don't think Kane is going to be a super star either, but people (not saying you) do seem to forget that Kane and B Schenn are the same age. Kane has a 30 goal season under his belt (albeit many more NHL games than Schenn). I think Kane has the potential to hit 40 goals if he plays with the right center.
Bottom line is what you already said. Asking price is just too high at this point. |
