Yeah, the Blues were a very good team all season and Miller didn't do all that much to impress while he was there. Which is why he's not there any longer.

Actually the Blues had a strong record of 9-3-1 right after the deadline in March. They were one of, if not the hottest team in the league at that time. They had a pour April going 2-6-0. They lost their last 6 games of the season in a row.
I agree 100%. The D absolutely needs overhauled. I was just saying that Mason can be "that guy" as one of the pieces to the Stanley Cup puzzle. - Pelle31Forever
I wouldn't say that it needs to be overhauled. It's just missing one player. That dynamic all situations #1 defenseman.

Pretty much.
I didn't like our pairing last season of Streit and Grossmann or Schenn and whomever he was paired with leading up to the deadline. I think our Coaching staff had other options they didn't look into.
I don't think Grossmann is nearly as bad a player as some make him out to be, nor do I think he's as prone to injury as many believe.
I don't believe Kimmo Timonen is the player he once was two or three seasons ago. If we can manage to upgrade any one of our current defenseman spots for a true number 1, we're in much better shape.

Having that player makes everyone around them a better player. And it slots players in the right roles.

i hated his terrible armadilla hat and chrome paint job and john brown mattress pads. i would have preferred joseph as well, even though JvB played quite well for them. - hammarby31
I actually liked the Chrome. He was a very good goalie for that team and for his career, I cant deny that. But I will never accept him. For the years he killed us with the Rags and especially with Fl in 96.The situation with signing him over CuJo, him giving up those shortside goals, regardless on how well he played, losing to Joseph and the Laffs only fuels my hate
On the surface, they looked like they were right there w/ LA, CHI and SJ, but a look under the hood showed that their bottom-end depth just didn't match up. It's no surprise that it eventually caught up with them, and as you said, was probably hastened by adding Ott. Losing Sobotka is a dagger.
Did you get a chance to see Dimitri Filipovic's snazzy tiered breakdown of every team? It visualized what the Blues were up against in the West:
