Is he truly left handed or does he just use the glove on his right?
- FlyersGrace

Good question.

I played goal in dek and roller (what happened to the Family Fun Spot?). I do all of my fine motor skills left-handed (write, eat, etc.) but am extremely right-handed with major motor skills. I found it much easier to control the stick as a right-handed shot than as a left-handed shot. Consequently, I caught with my throwing hand.

Also, on the Lindbergh/Hextall flip flop, had Lindbergh not injured his knee and the team had stretched the Oilers series further, his play-ff run would have been as good as Hextall's. Lindbergh put the Islander series out of reach when he had a 20+ save 2nd period in game 3 at the Mausoleum. He finished them off with a 1-0 shutout at home (I was at that game).

Also, everyone remembers Poulin's 2-man short-handed goal, but remember the final of that game was 3-0.

Lindbergh had 3 SO's and a .914 SV% and Hextall had 2 SO's and a .908 SV%.

Looking back, the goalies to win the cup in the last ten years are:
Quick, Crawford, Quick, Thomas, Niemi, Fleury, Osgood, Giguere, Ward, Khabibulin

Other than Quick and Thomas, none of them were star goalies, and Quick is the only one that is better than Mason right now (including Fleury because the last time he did well in the playoffs was the year before they won the cup).

And if I remember correctly, it took Thomas a long time to settle in and find his game...a very late bloomer. And a bit of a Richard.

Thank you Bill for responding to that uninformed drivel JR was spouting the other day. I can guarantee he didn't see more than 5 or 6 Flyers games (probably the NBC ones) last season, before the Rangers series. And then he clearly didnt pay attention as Mase outplayed Lundqvist. You basically hit on every single aspect of how I feel about that comment and Steve Mason. I liked JRs brash attitude as a player; as an analyst I find him beyond annoying. He's got his head too far up the Blackhawks a** to have an intelligent thought about any other team. And he NEVER thinks before he says something stupid. Mason and Corey Crawford had the same exact sv% last season, except Crawford played behind a dynasty-caliber roster. Meanwhile our guy carried us for long stretches.

I don't mind when analysts criticize the Flyers but it's easy to tell who knows what he's talking about and who's going off outdated stereotypes. Keith Jones isn't afraid to point out the truth about the Flyers, but he's 10x smarter than this clown.

Quick wasn't really a star before that first Cup... he was more known as a guy who would let in the back-breaking softy.

Thomas, Giguere and Khabibulin were definitely established stars.

Fleury and Ward were top-flight kids -- both had stellar reputations from junior.

Niemi, Crawford and Osgood I'll give you.

I thought the most heinous mistake JR made was insinuating that you need a top echelon goaltender to win the Cup.

Can someone explain to me how kulikov gets over 1 mil more a year cap hit than Demers just signed for? It's teams like Florida that are f'ing up salary structure just to reach the floor

Really JR? Geez, if we had Mason in for the full series, it's hard to believe the Rangers would have made it to the next round let alone the Finals. He wasn't just good, he was difference maker good.

Probably because Kulikov is a better hockey player and also has a much higher ceiling than Demers.

So is subban. Much better player than either even before this past season. What's he 2.8?
