And their age, and the FA class, and the length of the deal.

Which is why Braydon Coburn makes more than Ryan McDonagh.

Trade him for a bag of pucks and a broken stick!

Let's make no mistake here. I like Steve Mason. I sure as hell have a lot more confidence in Mason then Jeremy Roenick does. At the same time, I'm not going to overrate him. I don't believe he's a top 10 goaltender in the league right now. I'm willing to say top 15 (Which there is nothing wrong with) but not top 10.

Can my opinion change? Of course. The Numbers would have to be there the next upcoming seasons. A Nomination for an award never hurts. Being added to an international team could help with my opinion. How far he takes us into the playoffs.

Mason hasn't done any of this yet. This was his first full season with the Flyers and he was junk for 5 years prior to coming here. Harsh but true.

does he have to continue to prove himself? yes? do i give a poop if he's 8, 10, or 15 on some list? no. the difference that separates the top goalies is extremely small - to the point where i'd say i'd be fine with having any of them. i'm happy with mason. i like his game a lot, for many reasons, and i like that he's entering his prime years right now while on the upswing. that's really all that matters.

What am I missing? I've stated my case. My case is all I have to go buy for now.
- SuperSchennBros

the dig was a sarcastic comment that i personally need to go win in an international tournament as a goalie in orderto validate my opinion. which i have done. hence the joke. you missed it.

He is the perfect goalie for where the organization is right now. He is a young veteran, has the pedigree that Bobs didn't, and can steal games. He has the faith of the skaters, the coach, and management which goes a long way.

Well a number of fans here today have lists of where Mason ranks in the league. Everyone seems to have him in the top 10. I don't. It doesn't mean I'm unhappy with Mason. It just means he has room for improvement and the ability to move up within the rankings.

Mason has a track record that isn't very good though. One season doesn't wash away the 5 years prior to coming to Philly. Miller and Luongo in my opinion are easily better then Mason just by track records alone. Luongo has a pretty recent Stanley Cup Final appearance and a Gold Medal. Miller sky rocketed the Blues until hitting a road block against a top 2 team in the league in Chicago in the playoffs.

He did no such thing. His SV% in St Louis was .903.

Coburn is going to make a lot more in a couple years.

Flyers will have some important decisions to make while thier prospects develop.

Do you post on this thread a lot because I've never been anywhere where opinions and facts are so painfully interchanged on a regular basis?

Goaltending on the NHL roster is the least of their problems. JR could have hit almost any other area and made a valid point.
