Remember that game last season where on his first shift, he jumped a player? Now that's no where near as bad as Downie, but it was still a lack of discipline. Rinaldo needs to develop more aspects to his game. He needs to become a better defensive player and concentrate on getting on the right side of the puck instead of always going for the big hit while the puck is on it's way to the other end. Hit to separate a player from the puck, or to cause an errant pass. Don't hit just to hit. - MJL
See that's his problem what he's doing is all he's done from basically minor midget to the OHL to the AHL to now........it's all he knows & we can't sit here and wait for him to "find" a different game when he can be easily replaced with somebody capable of doing what we need. |

No, Rinaldo doesn't fly off the handle like those guys, but he is prone to taking many penalties. It looked as if he was getting smarter in the lockout season, but last season he was about useless.
If he's drawing penalties and getting opposing players off their game, he's effective. If he's getting called more often than he takes another guy off, the grit and sandpaper doesn't matter. - Jsaquella
To me, what you are describing is one of the more tougher roles in the league. A thankless role. You can't make another player do anything. You can only control what you do out there. So if he can get players off their game, that's great! If he can't, how can he do so playing five minutes a game and do so within those five minutes? |

Amen, the whole he brings "energy" to the team is overrated. He hasn't improved yet to be trusted on the PK. I hope to see Rinaldo less then 40 games this year. I really hope the Flyers 4th line offers more then guys who sheltered with basically no defensive zone starts. |

Sure it's tough. But there's plenty of guys willing to do it and who do it without being prone to loading up on dumb penalties.
Being an effective agitator means to get the opposing team off their game, not to make your own team shorthanded. |
