I disagree. He can be a stud 2c soon but not if we keep putting him everywhere but c. If much rather move couturier to wing for a season just to spark offense. Obviously he is the better c but his offense is virtually non existent at this point. Keep schenn at c and give couturier a chance on g line to get his offense game to NHL level - 28Girouxsalem28
40 pts last yr playing in a defensive role on the third line is not what I would call "non-existent offense" |

Couturier is easily the better all around player, and is by far a better center in terms of two way play over Schenn. Moving Couturier to Wing is a horrendous idea that I would seriously doubt the Flyers would even entertain, for very good reason.
If you look at how Couturier was used, and the situations he played in, it is false to say his offense is non existant. In fact his offensive numbers are pretty good for how he was used. I agree that Couturier has to be put in better situations, but moving him to Wing is not the right way to go. - MJL

I enjoy the NHL channel, and there's a variety of stuff. Of course I listen to all kinds of music anyhow, and I love the Old Time Radio channel.
Down here in Cape a May, terrestrial radio is so Godawful, there's not much choice - Jsaquella

I'd much rather have Couturier scoring 45-55 pts and being a premier shut-down center than have him scoring 60-70 points and not having his defense fully utilized. |

I think that Hextall's emphasis on drafting and developing will help guys like Straka, because instead of castoffs, undrafted free agents and spot fillers, the Phantoms will be used for development.
That might mean that we see guys who are first rounders playing there for much longer than we usually see Flyers first rounders spend in the AHL, which will put more talent on the roster and allow guys like Straka to play with better players. - Jsaquella

nope. i'll settle for 1, and that's a longshot they'll do that. i've been a fan since 1980. still waiting. - hammarby31

Actually schenn is already a 2c and has grown every year. Couts right now is an elite shutdown 3c who hasn't tapped any of his offense yet. I wouldn't mind putting couts up with Giroux to spark that offense we all know he has. Schenn earned 2c with his play last season and needs to grow as a center not a winger. - 28Girouxsalem28
Couturier had two fewer points than Schenn last season |

Yeah but he sucks, and keeping him in the 3c is sucking the non-sucky parts out of him. |

Agreed. I think when Couturier hits his prime, he will even be able to put up 50-60 pts a year while maintaining his defensive prowess |

I'd rather he go out and reach his ceiling. I think he could be a Patrice Bergeron type guy if he got more opportunity to play offensively. His usage is staggeringly tilted to defense, he faces top quality competition and still scored almost as much as Schenn |

Imagine if the team as a whole played more defensively responsible hockey and Couturier were allowed to become an actual two way center... wouldnt that be special? |

It'd be awesome. I cringe when I read that Schenn is so much further along...Couturier had two fewer points, playing a much more difficult role. That's not to say Schenn can't or won't blossom, it's to show what a special guy Couts is |

I think once Coots matures physically, he's going to be a monster at the front of the net.

I think he's going to be a monster on the puck in all 3 zones. I really think that the hockey sense is there for the offensive side of the puck, just as it is on the defensive side. |
