No.
I wouldn't even take a bet that he will still be with the Flyers in 10 years. - Scoob
Agreed. I believe Clarke and Bill Barber were the only players in club history to even play more than 10 consecutive seasons with the club, so the odds are really against Giroux. |

I agree on Cataldi, he mostly does it because he knows how to spark interest. The rest seem to genuinely believe the ridiculous things they say. Also, Mike Missinelli (spelling?) fits right in line. He's like Howard Eskin without the wit, logic, or intelligence that Eskin has. - jmatchett383
Yup I can't listen to Mikey Miss either. The only guy I really enjoy listening to when he's on the air is Ray Didinger and that's usually on the weekends. |

It's kind of funny that my mom can watch a game today and have no idea who anyone is despite watching almost every game. But I mention Flett to her and her first response is "Cowboy?" - five4fighting10

So, a question to you all:
After the moves that the Flyers have made this off season, where do you see the team finishing this upcoming year?
I think that if they stay relatively healthy (always a key) and young players like Couturier and B. Schenn continue to improve, that they will finish somewhere between 95-100 points.
At 95 points, I think they finish 3rd or 4th in the division and, if they are 4th, squeak in as the 7th or 8th seed. If they reach 100 points, I think they are either 2nd or 3rd in the division.
Thoughts? - BiggE
The only major move they've made so far is the Hartnell for Umberger trade which is (at best) a lateral move, in my opinion. If the defense stays relatively healthy, and AMac comes close to living up to his contract, they should be okay. I think having Lecavalier may be a blessing, as the dude still has some skill, they just need to find a spot for him (I say he's the 2C and Schenn moves to wing). If Schenn and Couturier continue to progress, this team can challenge for 2nd in the divison. But there are a lot of "if"s along the way. I'd say they likely finish 3rd in the Metro. |

I couldn't listen to Macnow when he was with Monkey Boy, AKA "The First member Of His Family To Walk Upright", AKA "Violation Boy", AKA Anthony Gargano.
I hate that dude with a passion. Almost as much as I hate Cataldi and Barkann. - MBFlyerfan
I never, and the Rock means never, listen to WIP.

I think that they could sneak in as a wild card or just miss the playoffs.
I think this year is kind a of retool where they will be competitive, and be in the mix, but could fall just short.

Listened to WIP yesterday and they were taking ten year bets on different Philly sports teams and players. So here goes.
Would you take this bet? In ten years Claude Giroux will be the all time leading scorer for the Flyers. - mickel25
I cant see that happening. Only if Giroux retires a Flyer. Nobody will beat out Lindros' point per game average as a Flyer. Its top 5 of all-time in the league. |

Agreed. About the same as last year. Mid-pack, early playoff exit. |

It's not worth listening to. My car CD player is broken, so my hour-long drive is either the "hilarious" Preston & Steve, bad modern pop, or sports talk in the morning, and that changes to bad "rock" music, bad modern pop, or sports talk in the evening. - jmatchett383
Satellite radio, it keeps me sane.
Well, sort of sane anyway!

You know, it doesn't really seem that much better. I don't like Stern, and it seems like there's about 4 good rock stations that play 1/4 good songs. How Social Distortion fits on "New Wave" and Jimmy Eat World fits of "Faction" is beyond me. |

dont know how you guys listen to Philly talk radio?...I listened while I was up there last month and one station loves the Eagles and the other station loves the Sixers - vejim
It totally depends on the host. Last Friday Mike Missanelli was trolling the Eagles fanbase on 97.5. He was going through the Eagles schedule game by game and was just going "Loss, Loss.. Loss..." and you could just hear it in his voice that he was egging his listeners on hoping for a flood of call-ins calling him an idiot. I didnt stick around to hear if he got what he wanted.
For a while on Saturdays, 11-2 I think, they had MacNow and Ray Didinger on WIP, and that was always a great show. Didinger is something of a sports journalism national treasure, extremely knowledgeable about football and at least competent (better with baseball than hockey) about the other sports.
The current state of sports journalism in the area makes me nostalgic for the days when Phil Jasner covered the Sixers and Jay Greenberg covered the Flyers. |

Ugh, I wouldn't listen to Stern if that hack paid me.
Usually, I listen to the following:
Deep tracks
Blues
The Grateful Dead station
Ozzy's Boneyard
Classic Rock
All of the above are commercial free and pretty much all music, all the time. |
