All of this "do something" and "just make a trade" talk is just silly.

Markets are constantly evolving and changing. Regardless of whether it's finance, housing, jobs, or sports, the concept of "markets" is still the same. They still evolve and fluctuate. They go up. They go down.

Often, it's best to have some patience and wait for the right time to do something with the expectation that your patience will provide a more prosperous outcome.

In much simpler terms, I'm sure Lou Lamoriello is fully capable of making a trade at a 8:00 am tomorrow morning if he wants to. There's probably a pretty good reason that he's not going to.

He won't be making a trade for a while, at least that's my opinion.

Everyone & their mother knows he has an excess of FWs & he'll have to move some or waive them. The return value is probably unacceptable because he has to make a move.

They'll be waiting until the last minute, wait for him to waive them, or wait until injuries occur. Then their value will go up & Lou will move someone somehow.

Injuries happen, and if a team has a guy go down early, devils will have more leverage. No rush, but there will always be fans that panic.

Can be a lot of other reasons someone is expecting a move: boredom, dissatisfied with the roster as is, hairy palms, NHL 14 says so, slow work day or disappointed with Taco Tuesday at work, etc etc

That's actually a fair point. If Lou can't work out a trade in the next week or so, I think he'll just sign Carter anyway and continue working on a trade through October.

If Carter turned down other offers with the intention of playing in NJ, it'd be sorta (frank)ed to leave him waiting all summer.

Lou has been pretty good and I do believe carter is waiting on Lou but it is scary that both him and sykora planned on getting something done and nothing did them same with fayne all though with fayne his hand was forced because other teams were interested and Lou doesn't give out stupid contracts to guys currently in the org lol
