Ryan Wilson: Kevin Hayes and the Penguins
Kevin Hayes and the Penguins - Ryan_Wilson
Can't lose on this one. Cost nothing to get him in the pipeline. If he pans out awesome if he doesn't nothing lost. I'd go after him pretty aggresively |

Define 'aggresively'.
Like pay something for his rights? Or offer him a long term contract? |

FYI:
TIOPS says Oilers and Avs have keen interest in Sutter (oilers especially) |

Like making sure he knows you'd like to sign him and give him an opportunity to make our roster. Not just call and say hey we wouldn't mind having this guy |

Hoping he comes to BOS and stays close to where he went to College.... We need a cheaper option on Wing... BUT, someone will pay much more than BOS can |

Oilers are tough. Perron and yak would be the obvious targets but would require more then Sutter. I'd love to get yak on this team. But he was 1 overall and would probably require a pretty descent package. Avs I suppose McGinn makes sense or maybe a much bigger deal for ROR (pipe dream) |

Aggressive... in my mind, i THINK the normal for a minor league player is 550k? (someone correct me if im wrong).
I see no reason to not offer him 750k to 1 mil, half for hte AHL, half NHL type deal, so only less than 500K hits our cap.
That is, if hes ready to come up to the NHL sometime this year even, if not, just 750K will do, an extra 200K to lock this guy up. |

yeah.. that's the problem... Edmonton paid Shultz almost $4 mil with bonuses (I'm assuming that he hit those bonuses).
That's a good chunk of cap space to use up for a question mark.
As big of a stud as people think he will be (and 27 goals in Hockey East is damn good), it was a big jump from his previous years. He was an ok player until his senior year (some injuries as well)... Maybe it all came together for him, but maybe it's a bit of an aberration? |

That's a good point, I'd throw a little extra money at him just because of how badly we need young impact forwards. I think lots of teams will be interested so it will most likely come down to where Hayes wants to be. We can't promise him top 6 time right off the bat but PIT is probably a great mixture of opportunity to play combined with a cup contender.
He's more of a 'need' than a guy I would specifically target. |

College hockey is a much smaller sample size. You have to be careful.
The more games played, the more useful the stats are. |

This is an EL contract, therefore it's limited to $900k or so. Even playing field for all teams, except for a bonus structure, which I believe is also capped, so I'm pretty sure Hayes is going to make roughly the same amount of money wherever he goes. It really comes down to where he wants to play and whether any team can all but guarantee him a legit shot at top-6 minutes. |

Yak still has plenty of attractive qualities. One of them being not named Brandon Sutter.
I would try a Sutter + something minor for Perron deal. |

when he wants to use them, yeah but far too often he is a lazy Russian and most likely will be in the KHL soon. OV has speed and a shot but I would want no part of him as well. |

Well there's a little difference between Ovechkin at $9M and Yakupov @ $900k |
