Probably not. But Mason did, proving he was able to shoulder the workload as a full season as the #1. Let's see if Bernier and/or Schneider can put up those same numbers over 60+ games. - jmatchett383
Yeah, that's all anybody's saying. A few less games of Marty should help them eke out a few more pts in the standings... that, and maybe not going like 0-1000000 in the SO again. |

And Cammalleri was the Habs best offensive player before the 2010 ECF, leading them in scoring.
All I'm saying is, Cammalleri has produced in important spots before. He's a PPG player in the playoffs and has been a key member of playoff teams in the past. He was stuck on a bad team in Calgary the past few seasons, but he's put up points when it mattered. - Jsaquella
He just seems like the tallest midget, to me (hockey ability AND height reference). He seems like a guy who puts up points in bunches when he's the guy on bad teams (someone has to score some points) but never seems to be "the guy" despite all his pretty numbers. |

A few less, sure. But if you increase Schneider's workload by 15-20 games, maybe he can't handle it and fades. I'm not saying it WILL happen, but let's see him actually do it at least once in his career before assuming he'll handle a 60+ game grind. Is that fair? |

Both are wonderful. Although my time in Alaska was limited to two weeks on a basically uninhabitable island next to Sarah Palin's back yard |

Not sure he has to be THE GUY in NJ. As long as he can help them win 4 or 5 more games, they're probably in the playoffs. He puts up points and with the number of one goal games they lost last year (0-12 in the shootout), he will likely improve them.
not saying they're going to be competing for a division title, but they shouldbe in the mix for a spot. |

Well that's all I was getting at. You can't take a 25 or 30 game sample and simply expect it to stay constant over a 60+ game season. Hey, he may come in and win the Vezina. He may come in and put up pedestrian numbers. I can't say either way until he does it. |

I'm not sure they'll be in. Remember, the Flyers had an absolutely abysmal start, so if they can win 3-4 more of those games, they're the #2 seed last year. So if we assume them both winning a few extra games this year, then they're a wash wrt each other. They could be in the mix, but I still wouldn't put them above a low 3 seed/wild card contender. |

While I agree the Flyers were not as bad as their start, I'm also not sure they are as good as their hot stretch that basically evened out that bad start.
I think the Flyers pretty much stayed the same in terms of being a good team and the Devils will be better. I think Columbus and the Isles will be better. Who knows, if the Caps buy into Trotz they could be a good sleeper. |

Columbus won't be better. Apparently, they got a lazy, slow penalty machine and we got world-class speed skater who will replace his production. |

The key for the Caps is Ovie. If he buys in, they can have a good season, if not, they have no shot.

I think they'll either be good or a very entertaining tire fire. |

Wild overpayments aside, they do have a pretty badass d-corps on paper, though:
Alzner/Carlson
Orlov/Green
Orpik/Niskanen
Any one of those would easily be our top-pair. |

I'll take Coburn/Not Orpik over Nikanen/Orpik.
Also, they need to take that 2nd line right winger off of their second pair. I like that they've tried him at defense, but he just is awful defensively. |

If I'm a Devils fan, I'd be more concerned that last years highest scorer turns 43 in February and the runner up is 38. M-Cam may help, but that has to be a concerned. I also think that their D corps is average at best. |
