i didn't listen to him/watch hockey during their cups

those of us who were stuck listening to him call flyers/devils games over the last several years have a different opinion. not sure why it's so unfeasible or bizarre that we have a different opinion based on our different listening experiences.

I'm 28 and that may be my favorite game of all time that I've watched multiple times on VHS/DVD.

I had the pleasure of meeting Gene Hart a handful of times since we lived in the same town. Was always friendly to me and seemed like a great guy.

There are at least 30 High Schools in D/FW alone that are playing hockey so it is gaining some popularity. Can't speak for the rest of the state.

About 10 years ago, Texas had more professional hockey teams than any other state (mostly CHL teams).

Thank you, Bill for that wonderful blog. I too, grew up listening to Gene Hart and I miss hearing his voice to this day. His style and phrases were so unique and awesome!

It really comes down to individual taste. I love listeing to Emrick call a game. A true professional. Also miss the days of Gary Thorne. He was great also.
