I could care less about their hockey coverage. That said, Melrose did a Union vs. BC game in Ghost's sophmore year. The amount of gushing he was doing over Ghost and Gaudreau put Pierre's Crosby crush to shame. It was actually kinda nice having it happen to one of our guys as well as a local product.

It's actually not a bad number for the Leafs or Reimer. If the Leafs aren't asking for a king's ransom, he could be an attractive piece to acquire. The 2 year deal would give another team a proper amount of time to evaluate whether he can be a #1.

Winnipeg has always seemed like the most logical destination, but that would actually require them to make a real trade.

It is rather strange how the Thrashers move to a more hockey loved market but do next to nothing to make themselves enjoyable to watch. In fact they did more when they were in Atlanta during the summer of 2010.

I wonder if the smaller arena is a revenue issue in spite of being in Canada, tv deal etc.
Not enough gate receipts....

Will be there in late October and will report back

Hutchinson is the future there. Strong showing in his short NHL stint, and helped lead the AHL team to the finals.

Reimer would allow them to break in Hutchinson and remain competitive.

He would but the problem is having Pavelec at around 4 million for the next couple years.

Jets have essentially no FA value/attraction. Have to build it the slow and ugly way. Hard in the west because you need to be good enough to beat LA and Chicago. Especially with the emerging Avalanche. Need that talent base to get there.

Trades are an option but would they be really more than a lateral move? Giving up a wart for another wart? They need elite talent. You could trade Buff, Enstrom, Kane or Ladd. Are the returns going to be fair, or make you better? Probably just lateral moves at best imo.

I think Reimer is an upgrade over Pavelic

I'm.....gonna have to disagree with you.

First of all, I was born May 31st, 1983, the day the Sixers won. I always said that, if the Phillies or Flyers ever win, then the rosters of the Championship teams will get a lifetime pass from me. So, would I prefer them to win more? Absolutely. But after waiting 25 years to see 1, I'd content to allow Howard/Utley/Rollins/Hamels/Ruiz to suck, as they're the last holdovers from that team, I think. I'd rather they retire as Phillies (maybe not Ruiz) as they were the key parts of that championship. If it means another 3-4 years of mediocre baseball...well, it's baseball, so it's not like it's hockey.

I'm completely diwn with this. Throw in Hamels, they can do no wrong.

Pavalec is meh to me.

Who takes him though? Calgary?

I am not a Jets fan but for what its worth I think they are doing it right with what limited resources they have. Through the draft, and building to be a team that can win it all instead of rash moves to make the playoffs and be beat by the powerhouses of the West.

If you move a Ladd, Little, Enstrom, Kane or Buff. Are the returning pieces going to make you a much better team? Or just a team with different warts. The pieces are there, even though they are complementary for a lot of them.

Similar to the Flyers in a way. A lot of complimentary pieces, but need a few to solidify the team by further development, or actually join the team (young D crop).

Patience is needed for both organizations and to strike/trade. When the time is right.

I have an expensive job coming up I've been putting off for a while.

Front rotors and pads will need to be replaced soon along with tires. The damn wheel shakes when I brake from a moderate speed.
