I get that emotions don't tend to obey logic, but if he should be upset with anybody it should be himself for not playing better (not just recently, but in general). The Phillies don't do themselves any favors by selecting the line up based on salary rather than what helps them win, right?

I've never been one to enjoy hating on Howard (I know a number of people who literally laughed and mocked and insulted Howard as he tore his Achilles), but boy is that extension awful. They can't end the Howard era soon enough.

it was an amazing ride, one i hope to have again in 2017, assuming israel still exists. judging by its thousands of years of history of survival, i know it will.

I've never been one to enjoy hating on Howard (I know a number of people who literally laughed and mocked and insulted Howard as he tore his Achilles), but boy is that extension awful. They can't end the Howard era soon enough.

First of all, I was born May 31st, 1983, the day the Sixers won. I always said that, if the Phillies or Flyers ever win, then the rosters of the Championship teams will get a lifetime pass from me. So, would I prefer them to win more? Absolutely. But after waiting 25 years to see 1, I'd content to allow Howard/Utley/Rollins/Hamels/Ruiz to suck, as they're the last holdovers from that team, I think. I'd rather they retire as Phillies (maybe not Ruiz) as they were the key parts of that championship. If it means another 3-4 years of mediocre baseball...well, it's baseball, so it's not like it's hockey.

I appreciate what they've done for us, and it doesn't tarnish the joy of winning the World Series. It still doesn't make that extension good in my mind. The Phillies aren't even mediocre anymore, they're irrelevant.
