With only 1 more yr of MAF, I think there are far more pressing issues to be worried about. Scuds, top 6 F, Sutter/Spaling. |

I like how your response has to do with something that occurred just about 10-15 years ago. You must love hearing about 1967. - Ben37
I absolutely do. It's my favourite thing ever.
I see also how you're in AB. Is that a suburb of Pittsburgh? |

I love Fleury. I love that he always smiles, that he has such great chemistry with the rest of our team, and that he is extremely athletic.
I don't like that he is overpaid to underperform. And no matter how you slice and dice his career, he has done just that. There's really no debating it when all the numbers support it. Even the year we won the cup, we wont it in spite of him.
The guy can make impossible saves look easy and then wont make the easy ones. The thing he makes most of all...too much money for what he brings to the table anymore. Clutch is not a word I would ever use to describe him. I think both the Penguins and MAF would be best off starting new elsewhere.
Much like BO, Ill miss him when he's gone because he has been part of the heart and soul of this team. But you cant afford to be sentimental in professional sports. |

Great he has played 90 playoff games. Most of those games he played like poop. Sometimes it's the team who gets the goalie the Stanley cup not the goalie getting the team the Stanley cup. And in this case the pens TEAM won MAF a cup. - JVR_42_PK81
Hmmm. He is a bad goalie in the playoffs. We get that, we've been saying that. His play against the Flyers and Islanders was the thing of nightmares. But I keep reading how Bernier is better...but with his total of .5 playoff games.
Fleury might suck in the playoffs, but at least he isn't golfing come April. |

Pens fans are not smart. This is not about Toronto not making the playoffs, this is about who is the better goalie. A team with Letang, Maatta, Niskanen, Orpik, should be making the playoff with a bad goalie, or not. A team with Phaneuf, Gunnar, Ranger, Franson, Fraser, Gardiner, and Rielly defensivley should not be in the playoffs. The thing is Bernier was the reason the Leafs almost made the playoffs. Actully one of the biggest reasons they did not make the playoffs was because Bernier got hurt. He is simply amazing. Reimer is good and a good goalie cannot carry a team that bad. How many shots did the Pens get per game? I am not sure but it was probably not to close to the Leafs 50 a game. |

My original point was that Sv% can also be affected by what team you are on, which you obviously agree with since you keep pointing out Hitchcock's system helping goaltenders. - sbroads24

And I'm fine with that..... The same goalie part. You are aware how highly rated a goalie he was while in la right. - burn
Until he got to the Leafs I guess |

A move from Pittsburgh to AB is quite rare however.
You wouldn't be one of those Canadian guys who cheers for Pitts because they have Crosby, and because you don't like cheering for a losing team now would you?

I think this is one of the most honest comments on this blog. I think most of the comments from the Leafs fans are 100% accurate concerning MAF's ability without making any comparisons to Bernier. Like you I love MAF too but not because of his smiles but more so because of his ability to wilt under pressure - he has won me a great deal of money knowing that he cannot win "big games" and has melted under pressure the last five years. The one thing that everyone has learned about him here in Vegas is that "he just can't win the tough games!"
So we have now wasted 5 years of Sid/Geno with this guy and as Chuck Noll would say it is time for this guy to go on with his life's work!! He is very acrobatic, loves to do handstands and make people laugh as you stated. Only one job left for him and that is either with Cirque du Soleil or as a Circus clown. It's time to move on!!

One big shoutout to MAF: His save on Lidstrom with 3 seconds left is the biggest save by an NHL goalie in years. |

MAF has a history that he can be judged upon. Bernier does not. Let's hold off on who the better goalie is until Bernier has a few seasons as a starter. |

Nope. I was around 6-7 years old growing up north of Edmonton and chose Mario over Wayne. and it went from there. |

Listening to ridiculous trades that some people actually think have a possibilty of happening is even worse. In both Canuck and Leaf forums. Aint singling you guys out. Its exhausting.

That is one of the more frustrating/strange aspects of Hockeybuzz. The lack of reality that people seem to express in regards to trades.
For your star player we'll give a former first round pick bust, a draft pick of our choosing and roster player. |

I like the think of the Kulemin, Kaberle, Kadri (prospect days) and a 1st for Malkin.
Or some of our latest offers. Sutter, Pouliot and a 1 for E. Kane. |
