It was ultimately on him, but I believe he was handled poorly a few years ago. There was an interview with him after Regeir and Co left where he basically said he was confused by what Regeir and Ruff wanted

I think the fact that the Sabres leadership at that time was very very weak lender to his demise. No one to kick him in the are and hold him accountable. As we have come to learn the leadership of Pommer, Vanek etc all was about the same a small rudder-less yacht in a race..little to no direction. So when the whiny little kid sulked, no one looked him in the eye and held him accountable.
This is why I'm very happy with this off seasons moves by GMTM...strong leadership to show the way to a very young team already that is going to get a lot younger in the next few seasons.

I have a question for some of our brethren here that diligently follow our prospects.
I have been hearing some fantastic things about Linus Ullmark.
Does anyone else here think he may be our goaltender of the future instead of Makarov?
Or are people still high enough on Lieuwen, or perhaps even Enroth?
Just wanted some of y'all's take on our goal tending situation moving forward.
Thank you.

55 bucks a week is kind of a joke. They can make that in a weekend barbacking plus still get their hourly.

The loss of 40k in 18 months is also kind of bs. What's the percentage of kids that go to secondary school? My guess would be 45-50% on the high end. Just pay the kids and let their families figure out what to do with the cash.

"These leagues have gone from being mom and pop businesses in the 1980s to hugely profitable money-making private businesses that sell millions of dollars in tickets, hundreds of thousands of dollars in jerseys and sponsorships and TV rights. The truth is junior teams are no longer what they say they are."

....which is exactly why they dont want to let players go to the AHL early....they make money for the teams. Is about money, not "development"

I like how they're concerned that the player might "indescriminitely spend the money" which in reality means, "we just dont want to give the player any money."

IMO
Neuvirth has solid numbers playing on a defenseless Washington team. If healthy, he could provide them with a solid #1 for a few years. Again health is the issue.

Enroth doesn't have bad numbers avg wise. If he had players in front of him, he could be a good stop gap for now.

Hackett well we hear it from time to time, "He might be a better NHLer than AHLer". He has promise but needs to curb the attitude.

Ullmark has the highest ceiling.

Markov is the wild card.

Peterson could be the best of the bunch.

Lieuwen has all the tools but injuries are an issue.

Johansson to young to tell but by all accounts has promise.

I think many believe that Ullman is the future, but that he is still several years away, and young goalies are hard to predict to begin with.
Personally, I'm higher on Neuvirth than Enroth for the short term. It will be interesting to see Lieuwen and Markov battle it out in Rochester.

What do they think the rest of us did at those ages?

If I had saved the money I made from ages 15-20, there's a good chance no only would I have no mortgage, but I'd also have a nice savings account on top of that.

Good read again B0os.

Adam is a career AHLer. He's a decent depth forward. That's about it.

- HonkFortheGoose

for Adam to ever be an NHL player, on a regular basis, you really have to catch lightning in a bottle with his linemates

I think he could produce on the wing with girgens and a speedy winger

I'm fairly certain Ullmark is the guy they are looking to take the reins in a few years. He had a dynamite year on his SEL team and he looked really good in development camp this year. He's got 1 more year in Europe and then he'll probably make the jump to North America. I would expect to see him get some time in the AHL before the NHL though. He's going to have to adjust to the smaller ice surface for a bit.

Your incite is very much appreciated. Thank you DD.
See, I already forgot about Hackett even though he did not impress me much albeit with a pretty horrible team in front of him.
I also forgot about Neuvirth and Peterson.
So we may have something growing in the weeds after all.
Thank you again.

Problem with Enroth is that he just can't win.

When the game is close he folds, whether it's in OT, a shootout or with a few minutes left he will end the game on the losing end.

if Myers didn't freeze on those 2 on 1's there may be a different outcome in many of those games

Take out last seasons 4-17-5 and he's 21-18-7.

Like I said, put a competent roster in front of him and he can be a stop gap.
