Grand - just heard/read on Twitter today? This week the assistants should be names? - Irish 14
Good to hear!
Let the speculating begin as to who, besides Arturs, is coming aboard. |

Some on here just can't warm up to Teddy? Same as any home grown players coming here to play or coming back to coach/scout |

Is this your opinion, or do you have info?
I have never heard this, and find that hard to believe. - grand-magus
Info.
The assistants know they have to do everything because Teddy does nothing. Like quite literally nothing. Ive heard this from multiple sources, players and otherwise. |

Players love him cause all he asks is you play hard. I dont think he is the right guy to teach the young kids how to play, so hopefully he will be able to get some strong assistants, but thats far from a sure thing. |

Never thought of him as anything more than a stop gap till the top prospects are ready to be full time NHLers

I don't blindly love Ted Nolan like other people do, but come on...... He doesn't do a thing? |

Grand - just heard/read on Twitter today? This week the assistants should be named? Will see, my bet:
Boughner
Peca
Cunnyworth
Are a few in the picture! - Irish 14
I doubt peca would. He was around for the whole teddy/hasek incident. That is probably also why he has had trouble getting an nhl job recently |

I'd kill for a job where I made six figures plus and my boss only required me to try hard and that paying attention to detail wasn't a requirement. |

This team was lifeless under the last two coaches.
I'll take being entertained and gritty play while we suck anyday over listening to Lindy Ruff whine about how the NHL hates Buffalo |

I have no idea whether or not it's a fact, but I can read the signs. The Toronto Maple Leafs hired a 28 year-old assistant GM who had held a position as a General Manager in the highest level junior league on the planet. Meanwhile, Michael Peca, a former player, and a pretty good one at that is only holding a GM position on a lower-tier junior league. It can only mean one of three things: he doesn't want a higher position, he's as dumb as a rock, or he's an administrative disaster not cut out for an NHL caliber job. |

He turned the junior Sabres organization around while coach and GM in short order. Now he wants to concentrate on just being a GM. I do not think he is ready for the NHL as a coach . I think his chosen career path is in being in a GM type position . Everyone is not as incompetent as you would like to insinuate.

Or the Sabres are paying him through the nose to run the Jr. Sabres, all the while doing it in the city he calls home.
Could it be that he actually likes what he's doing? Why (and not directed at you, 19) do people assume that just because a former player isn't in an NHL coaching position, that there may be some reason other than perhaps he likes it where he is? |

Which is why I included the option that he just simply might not be interested in an NHL level job. The NHL is a "good old boys" network. If Mike Peca wanted in, he'd be given every opportunity to do so unless there was something seriously wrong. |

He won't be here when we are competing for a cup IMO, but to act like he just walks around the building and delegates responsibilities to his assistants is a hilarious take. He's been known to be heavily involved, especially with the players |

I think we'd all take that...but i also think that's why his message gets stale....players realize he doesnt know how to "coach" a system or teach them anthing new....and the ra ra motivation stuff can only take so far for so long......when its time for us to compete...i think Nolan will be gone. |

Ted Nolan isn't the first head coach in any professional sport to primarily delegate himself the responsibility of motivating his players while delegating all the details to his assistants. That model rarely works in the long run, however. I'd like to think that as soon as this team is ready to seriously contend, he's shown the door, or given some sort of job in the front office, but Terry Pegula, the guy who signs the checks, has a history of being a little too nostalgic. Sure, in theory, Tim Murray is supposed to make all the decisions, but I don't believe for one second that he won't have to justify such a significant move to the owner first. We're still talking about the guy who said, in response to a question about Darcy Regier: "what has he done wrong?". And it only took the team being on the brink of a public relations disaster for Pegula to finally sign off on the firing of both Ruff and Regier. |
