He won't be here when we are competing for a cup IMO, but to act like he just walks around the building and delegates responsibilities to his assistants is a hilarious take. He's been known to be heavily involved, especially with the players - sbroads24
I think he has a good eye for talent...and....i think he knows how to get through to players and get the most out of them....but, i have heard his assistants mostly draw up the offensive and Defensive systems, and run the practices |

Ted Nolan isn't the first head coach in any professional sport to primarily delegate himself the responsibility of motivating his players while delegating all the details to his assistants. That model rarely works in the long run, however. I'd like to think that as soon as this team is ready to seriously contend, he's shown the door, or given some sort of job in the front office, but Terry Pegula, the guy who signs the checks, has a history of being a little too nostalgic. Sure, in theory, Tim Murray is supposed to make all the decisions, but I don't believe for one second that he won't have to justify such a significant move to the owner first. We're still talking about the guy who said, in response to a question about Darcy Regier: "what has he done wrong?". And it only took the team being on the brink of a public relations disaster for Pegula to finally sign off on the firing of both Ruff and Regier. - buffalofan19
I'm pretty sure Murray has authority to make that call. |

I'd like to think so, but the history, albeit a very short one, indicates otherwise. |

Luke Adam will never make the NHL full time, slow and plays zero defense. Total waste of time in AHL |

All of it, good.
We've kind of painted ourselves in a corner by hiring Nolan. Now, even if the team doesn't perform down the road as they should, Nolan being fired will cause a bit of outrage in some fan circles, other nostalgic types. If it was anyone other than a guy with ties to the Sabres history, they would say we didn't ditch him soon enough. |

As Tim Murray might say, "zero f#&ks given". I don't think he cares about public perception.
Murray did the smart thing by retaining Nolan. He'll be very easy to fire, as he wasn't really Murray's choice. |

Murray seems like he would fire his cousin. But you have to admit because its "Nolan" there is that added layer of thought that will go into that one. |

He's saying his sources told him that Pegula's "cronies" forced LaFontaine out and pointed to the non-disclosure as proof. |

Perhaps, but in the end, Murray will do what he thinks is right. I just hope Terry and his cronies stay the hell out of his way and let him do his job. |

Why o Why ? If he was half way decent another team would have picked him up, not an NHL player, he wouldn't do anything anywhere else. I guess it is an NHL career all the way, could be worse things in life. |

I don't blindly love Ted Nolan like other people do, but come on...... He doesn't do a thing? - sbroads24
You wouldnt believe what I've heard. Doesnt watch game film, doesnt go to meetings and if he does he "throws around a few cliches and leaves". Again, Ive heard this from more than one source. |

I believe what you say about meetings. Or gameplans.
But the way you made it sound was as if he walks around clueless.
I have heard a couple players credit him with turning their lives and career around |

Stafford is one of those players. Like I said, players like him, but its not because of his hockey accumen. Nice word, right? |

At this point if he and the assistants can get them acting like professionals with a clear cut direction I think it's a good start. I don't need Mike Babcock or Ken Hitchcock right now. I think Nolan makes it through 2 years and is replaced |

All I can say is Patty took a stance on something that was important to him and Terry wouldnt budge.
Knowing the story, I can see both Patty's and Terry's side. |
